I really hoped Where the Wild Things Are would be doing better.

Ho-ly shit! Saw VI sank like a fuckin' stone! I'll bet LG is sweating VII and VIII big time.

I wish PA would steal the weekend away from MJ. Still hope since tonight could be a big night for it.

I guess Sony paid them 50 or 60mill for the footage, so the box office take is Sony's. Prob make 50mill here, 100 overseas.... still good for a documentary.

DVD/BD sales is where they'll really clean up with this.

Anyone find it odd the top movie for HALLOWEEN is going to be a musical documentary? I know it's a morbid event with the death and all, but still...

Why is everyone surprised with Saw?

What is the last horror franchise to have a Part 6 that did really well compared to what its previous installments made? I'm honestly shocked that Part 5 made as much as it did. With the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street Series, both of their Part 5s were where their box office started taking a dip.

Because the other ones all performed similarly. I think a small drop was expected since Saw V saw a dip, but I don't think anyone expected this bad. I think Paranormal Activity really helped.

there is not a doubt in my mind that Paranormal Activity really hurt Saw VI

I was thinking the same thing about Halloween. I thought maybe Saw would little bit better this weekend but it didn't.

Just give us one more Saw, axe the 3-D idea, bring back either Whannel or Bousman to direct and wrap up the whole series.

Please PLEASE let this be the last of the "Saw" movies. Until the reboot in 2015 that is.

Saw VII hits theatres 22 October, 2010.

David Hackl directs. He did Saw V. Believe Saw VII will be in 3D.

Re: This Is It, I do quite like this quote from David Poland, which is appropriate for an awful lot of things (not just box office) these days:

"We are now responding to hype as though it is news and then attacking the news because "we" bought into the hype."

Deal with it. Huh, no accounting for the taste of a huge portion of America.

Saw 1 was clever, I'll give you that, but I thought it tried way too hard to be that way. Still, leaps and bounds better than later installments. The francise needs to die. As soon as possible.

Forgive me, but I just can't seem to grasp how this is upsetting you so much. Hang in there.

Just try your absolute best to not accidentally wander into a theater when it's playing and try really hard not to break your legs so you can't escape said theater.

Paranormal Activity has to hold the record for most profitable film when compared to it's original budget.

It's approaching $100mil gross in the states on a $15,000 budget.
