Re: Help me program a horror double feature for my theatre.

I remember in college, they played the original FRANKENSTEIN (1931) and DRACULA (1931) as an afternoon double bill in the campus's huge main auditorium which had two 35MM projectors but no anamorphic lens, so widescreen films were always shown squeezed. Anyway, FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA were not widescreen so they played fine and the packed house loved them. This was over 40 years after they'd first been released.

I somehow doubt that today's ADD-addled kids would be equally interested in something 40 years old, which, in this case, would be a Hammer double bill along the lines of FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED and DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.

I was at the same one, but Re-Animator I've seen before, so that was our dinner break (and then straight on til morning).

But I have to ask...are any of these employees under 17? If it's a work function, they may not want an R-rated film, and Re-Animator is a very HARD R.

It's a theatre, so they're all 17 or over; I don't hire kids who can't watch R-rated films.

You'd probably have a lot of fun doing a Drag Me to Hell / American Werewolf in London double-up with a bunch of teenagers.

You know what's sad? Most teens I know think Drag Me To Hell is, in their words, "dumb". Judging by what my employees and tehir friends said I'm not surprised it didn't perform better, even though it's been one of my favorites of the year.

I'm thinking Sleepy Hollow for one of them...

I still say A Nightmare on Elm Street, at least, should be a sure-fire success.

What does everyone think about Sleepy Hollow (straight one, classic Halloween story) and Evil Dead 2 (fun one)?

Good choices.

Hell, this thread could go on forever with suggestions. Sounds like you got two appropriate films.
