Go to it, he is someone worth listening to with all of his stories and years in the business. As I am sure I have said in an another thread, make sure you bring stuff for him to sign as he is more than happy to have his fans. Some other people and I actually got to have a private meeting with him over a cup of coffee after the crowd had died down. That was close to ten years ago, but be a wallflower until the crowd disappears and he might be up to chatting with you afterward.

Hrm....I love The Thing. I love his thoughts on cinema. Though I think he's kinda lost it directing wise...I still like him. LOVED his commentary w/ Russell on The Thing. I might go. I'd love to. I'll see.

Yeah, if you're in Denton, and have six months to plan, there's no excuse not to at least drop by.

Don't feel wedded to that price. (Not that those passes will still be around then anyway.) Regardless, you should be able to walk in off the street, buy single-day ticket and a Carpenter autograph for less than $50.
The VIP pass bundles several different perks together, including a guaranteed autograph.

Right. Well I'd love to meet the man. I've never been to thing like this. Like what would I be able to expect? I'm assuming it'd be like a Convention of sorts?

Indeed. We're a 3-day horror convention celebrating our 5th year. Expect around 50 or so celebrities from all manner of horror films. Movie screenings. Q&As. A dealer room chock full of all sorts of grisly nicknacks, movie posters and the like. "Shock Rod" car show. Masses of people dressed as zombies walking to the hotel "invasion" style.

oooh. *sigh* Ok. I'm going. It doesn't help that I'm a Film Major (well they like to call it Radio, TV, and Film..but I'm a film only guy) at UNT. This would be a great experience to learn from these people..and John Carpenter.

Excellent. Well, that's a big part of the show. We showcase Texas filmmakers (we call them Texas Frightmakers) by screening their films, providing a venue to promote upcoming projects as well as a prime opportunity to network with fellow filmmakers (and fans).

Damn it. He shot his movie up here and I told Scarecrow Video they should try and get him but I guess they tried long ago and his personal appearance fee was crazy high. Depending on my financial situation, I might have to try to go...

Ok. Well if we're all going we might as well get to meet each other at least. It'd be fun, in an awkward kind of way.
