Very odd scene I just noticed in Red Dragon.
I was just watching Red Dragon again with Anthony Hopkins and Ed Norton and there was a scene I noticed which was very odd. Now, I know in the book there is also the scene of where Dolarhyde takes the girl to the zoo and pets the sedated tiger which illustrates the fact that she is softly touching a sleeping monster which parallels to the relationship between Dolarhyde and the girl.
However, in the movie when she is petting the tiger she curiously reaches farther down and feels what looks like the Tiger's penis and she gives this look that she's enjoying it or something and then you see Dolarhyde's face and he gives that look too.
Basically, it's just a very odd scene that caught me by surprise and although i've seen this movie a couple times I have never truely noticed that scene before.
I'm curious if anyone has read the book or if I am seeing wrong in the movie, but i'm pretty sure it seemed like she was stroking tiger. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but I am more curious if this correlates to anything in the book.

I do not recall a tiger getting a handjob in that movie. Now I'm both curious and frightened to re-watch the scene in question.

The blind woman does run her hand over the tiger's balls in the book. I cannot recall if Dollarhyde specifically reacts to it in the book, however.

There's even a song on the soundtrack called 'Tiger Balls'.

A Not just to film, but the experience of being in a room with a tiger like that was amazing. It was kind of the best acting I?ve ever seen. We were all in this tiny little room and the door opened and this tiger walked in, literally, just sort of padded into the room and looked around. So beautiful, the pattern on her face, I?ve never seen such presence and it made everyone take a deep breath, she was so beautiful. And she was lying on the table and fully awake the whole time and growling because it is not legal to sedate an animal for the purposes of filming anymore. She had two trainers with her and they had a rope around her neck so she couldn?t get up and run off or attack anybody. And she was being fed meat all the time. And I had to walk up behind her and stroke her, as you see in the film, and occasionally she would sit up and look around and I just had to walk away again very gently. If you made any sudden movements she would have noticed you and got interested in you but unless she was hungry she just treated us like part of the furniture. And then when I put my hand on her, it was like when you put your hand on a cat and you can feel the vibration when they are purring, but times a thousand. It was a really really thrilling thing to do let alone filming the scene. And it is very sexy as well: somebody says I?m taking you on a surprise date, you don?t know where you are going and you can?t see and then you put your hand out and there is a tiger. Amazing.

Holy crap. The fact that the tiger wasn't sedated is pretty cool. Kudos to Emily Watson. I don't think I'd do that.

I wonder if it was sedated for Joan Allen in Manhunter. That was a lot longer ago and sedating for filming may have been allowed then.

I know the keeper says the tiger's sedated; Allen also touches the incisors which I doubt anyone would do if it wasn't sedated.

I've had the pleasure of petting and being around several of the large cats.
It is amazing stuff.
Handling tiger and lion cubs is a blast too.

There's a scene in The Wizard Oz where the Tin Man gives the Cowardly Lion a handjob.
