Toy Story 1 & 2: 3D (two week engagement) Oct. 2
just a shout out to the release of this double feature starting this Friday for a two week engagement:
in 3D!! (3D... 3D ... 3D)

should be fun, I know I'm looking forward to seeing again on the big screen.

So it's almost like a 3 hour Pixar feature? If only it were rated R.

I can't wait to catch these. Never saw the first one in theatres, and it feels like its been ages seen I've seen the second. Plus, the preview for third film is icing on the cake.

While aware of this double feature coming out, I hadn't realized it would just be for 2 weeks. I'd love to check it out. Will be difficult to fit it in while trying to keep up in the Horror Challenge, I'll have to see which theaters near me will have it.

I remember seeing the second film, and specifically with 6.1 Dolby Digial EX sound - I loved how the 'crossing the street' scene had one of the wheels of a car rolled directly behind the listener.

I'm just excited that one of the closer theatres near my home, Regal Bethesda 10 has just installed a Sony 4K system and will be featuring this double feature.
AMC remains to be a stick in the mud and not advance or install any new digital projector systems in any of it's Washington DC area theatres - they are sooooo lame and pathetic.

branch out my friend, don't box yourself into just watching 'one' genre during the month of October

I'm planning on seeing these on Friday. I saw them both in theaters on release night. Can't wait to see them again. I wonder if they will tack on some of the bloopers or some new ones.

I never saw either one in the theater. I am hoping to take my five-year-old daughter if I get the chance, as she is a huge fan of the two films.
Why aren't they doing this the month before TS3 comes out next year? It would make more sense...

Saw both on opening day when they came out and I've got tickets for the 3:30pm show on Friday - Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are two of my favourite movies and seeing them in 3D is going to be awesome. Can't wait!

according to Fandango, the total run time is 2hours 51 min. The ads mention an intermission, well we could always use the end credits as intermission.

I love the Toy Story movies - the only Disney movies I saw until Up this past year - and will definitely check this out since I didn't see the first two in theaters. I just hope my ass doesn't go numb like it did when I saw Grindhouse a couple of years ago.

Re: Toy Story 1 & 2: 3D (two week engagement) Oct. 2
I attended an early screening of both features last Saturday. The theater was having a slight problem with downloading the second feature which I thought was strange, because shouldn't both features have been downloaded in advance? The problem was because the theater was set up to show Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 3-D, I do believe.
So what should have been a 10-minute intermission turned into 25 to thirty minutes.
Plus there was nothing shown during the intermission, just a black screen. But, if what I read in USA Today is correct, the "true" intermission will be five or 10 minutes in length, and will feature an exclusive peek at Toy Story 3 as well as trivia and scenes of the characters talking.
No outtakes were added at the end of Toy Story but the outtakes at the end of Toy Story 2 are intact.
My thoughts about the limited engagement can be found in a small piece called Never Leave a Good Toy Behind.

That sucks. The whole point of the intermission is that you can get up and take a leak without missing anything.

Why only 2 weeks? You know it's going to be a big hit.
How hard is it to convert it to 3D? Why would they have gone through all that trouble to just show it for 2 weeks?
I think they should have done a wide true release around christmas. How perfect would that have been?
