2009 Oscar Predictions
I always liked this website. Hadn't heard of a few of the Best Picture predictions so I watched their trailers. Has anyone seen "Precious"? Glad to see "The Hurt Locker" in many of the categories. Although Jeremy Renner should and better get a Best Actor nomination. I also hope the Academy doesn't forget about "Sunshine Cleaning". Adams, Blunt and Arkin all turned in award worthy performances. At the very least, a nomination IMO.

Re: 2009 Oscar Predictions
i got a quick question, since The Hurt Locker was already nominated for several Indie Spirit Awards, how can it still be eligible for the Oscars for next year?

Here's my prediction: Christoph Waltz will be nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but will not win. The amount of Internet Bitching™ will be deafening.

Re: 2009 Oscar Predictions
I love animated movies and didn't think Up was all that great (not bad by any means just not all that fantastic) and wouldn't be completely surprised if it did lose to something (probably not Coraline which had its own issues (waaaaay too long for so little plot.))
Inglourious has a shot as Best Pic, District 9 wasn't particularly great, The Hurt Loker seems like an ideal best pic nominee - a character centric war piece with critical praise that will confuse/bore the general movie going public.
Precious will be up for numerous awards (it "won" Sundance and Toronto)

Re: 2009 Oscar Predictions
I'm all over The Young Victoria.
Best Picture
Best Actress: Emily Blunt
Best Supporting Actor: Paul Bettany
Best Director: Jean Marc-Valee
Best Costume Design
Best Art Direction
I'm backing either this or Up. I know Star Trek and Potter won't go past technicals. Watchmen won't get anything. D9 and Basterds will get nods, but nothing major.
