Re: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY - Get the word out!
Well I just watched the alternate
ending and the theatrical ending.
I like the 'cops' ending the best of the three.
This thing looks great on Blu.

The alternate and theatrical cuts are both on the Blu. Not the cops ending.
It looks great, and the audio is really cool, you can CLEARLY hear the wild voice in the "I think we'll be okay now" thing, it's wild.

Re: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY - Get the word out!
So I finally got to see this movie.. I give it a big fat "F" . What a pile of crap. Went in expecting to at least be scared or even see a good movie. This was neither scary or good. I didn't jump once, and that my friends is not hard to accomplish as I can get into films and even when i know its coming, i jump.
For something to be hyped as much as it was, and then to be let down like I was, I'd almost put this into the "Worst movie of all time" discussion.
The only props I give is that they made a 12 thousand dollar movie into hundreds of millions. Nice profit!

And yet the "Love it or hate it with no in between" analogy is still holding strong.

Re: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY - Get the word out!
Blockbuster Video had these out early, so I took the plunge and rented it for $1.99 with my special discount. God, this movie sucked. Probably one of the most overrated "Home Movies" of the year. Not even remotely scary and I literally dosed off several times. Doors slamming shut, things dropping on the floor and Katie screaming like a hyena don't make a scary movie. I thought the other lead actor Micah was such a douche. I felt this movie was really more of the breakdown in the relationship between Micah and Katie than an actual exploration into the Paranormal.
The thing I am more upset about is the $15K turkey and it's $107M at the box office taking away all the thunder from a far superior and much more scarier film in Saw VI.
On the plus side, I actually think Katie Featherston is kinda hot. Nice voluptuous body, big boobs and a nice curvy ass. I hope she gets a few more roles.

In fact I think 'I didn't jump once' might be the best thing you can say about a horror movie. Jump scares are easy and lazy.

Just saw the movie, a $1 Redbox rental. It was a very good movie, definately worth watching once.
And I *loved* the director's home (where it was filmed), great hardwood floors and iron railings.

Movies like PA are meant to be seen with a large crowd at the movie theaters. It's just not the same viewing experience if you're watching this movie at home by yourself, or with your sig-oth.

I liked it, it wasnt great or as scary as people or the ads were making it out to be, there were one or two good creepy moments. But its worth seeing once, I think this movie has really little replay value.

This movie really reminded me of "Open Water".
Handheld video shots, man & woman have something that they can't control, desperation.

I watched Paranormal Activity last night. It's OK, but I don't feel the need to watch it again...good concept (sleep is a mysterious phenomenon, and we're most vulnerable while asleep), but mediocre execution. In my opinion, the first Blair Witch movie is more effective.

I was thinking the same thing! I watched this late last night and it was definitely creepy. I thought I kept hearing strange noises while I was trying to go to sleep.

I thought it was OK - I appreciate the technique and what they were going for but didn't find it scary at all... just the sounds made me feel like I wanted to rewatch Drag Me To Hell because all I kept thinking was "LAMIA!"

Re: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY - Get the word out!
Well..my heard something in the house is actually applied to a lot of "classic" horror flicks not directly to PA. Notice that I used a Dark Alley as an example as well. Using situations in a movie that MAY be associated with getting scared/nervous/etc in the real world.
