Movies whose twists are ruined because of pop culture

I refer to movies whose twists/surprises were something in the day, but because they have become so popular with time, everyone now knows the twist due to its popularity. Basically, avoiding being spoiled is impossible.

Some that spring to mind : I won't give away the twists, just give the titles, you probably already know them.

-Empire Strikes Back

-Psycho

-Planet of the Apes

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone.

The original Max Payne game spoils that one.

Citizen Kane: parodied, spoofed, copied, and animated at least once every two years.

Funny, I never had that one spoiled for me.

MST3K: Time Chasers ruins The Usual Suspects. Some VH1 special (maybe "I Love the 90's"?) spoiled Se7en.

That's the one for me. Most of the rest (at least the not-as-old ones) I saw at the theaters so there was no chance to spoil me. I'm really glad I didn't get movies like the Usual Suspects, Sixth Sense, Empire Strikes Back, and Unbreakable spoiled for me since I enjoyed being totally surprised by all those.

Not exactly a twist, the end of Carrie.

Not really a twist so much as an unexpected ending, but Thelma & Louise was ruined for me when

Spoiler:
Wayne and Garth drove off a cliff together in Thelma & Louise costume.

Re: Movies whose twists are ruined because of pop culture

The ending of the original Halloween was ruined by pretty much every other horror movie that followed it.

While not a twist, per se, the impact of The Exorcist was dampened for me by the time I finally saw it because of parodies and other pop culture references to its key scenes.

If it's a good movie, it won't be "spoiled" by knowing the ending or the twist. I've seen CITIZEN KANE, PSYCHO and PLANET OF THE APES, to name three of the movies named in this thread, umpteen times and enjoyed them every time.

I think you're taking the term 'spoiled' too literally.

Re: Movies whose twists are ruined because of pop culture

I also took this to mean "what movies, with twists, have the twist shown fairly often in pop culture?" Most of the movies listed weren't spoiled for me, personally, but have probably been spoiled for someone who hasn't seen them yet.
