Oscar SHEEP for Labor Day Laborers

Not much traffic on the forums over this Labor Day weekend.
I thought I would put up a Sheep Game for those few people hanging around.
I've never done one of these before and I'm not gonna use any fancy spreadsheets, so we're just gonna keep it simple.
All these are straight SHEEP, meaning you want to come up with the most popular answer.

General Rules [pretty much copied from Tarantino in Otter]
Spoiler:
  • The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (Sheep)
  • Example Sheep question: "Name a professional golfer." A good answer might be Tiger Woods and a bad answer might be Chichi Rodriguez.
Scores are tallied according to the number of players answering that question. Sheep answers are tallied as positive.

  • Certain rounds are considered Lightning Rounds (designated by a multiplier, such as 2). In these rounds, scores are adjusted by the number on the multiplier. In a sheep round, a wrong answer scores normally.
  • You may cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, etc.
You can see Oscar winners at IMDB http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Awards/Academy_Awards_USA/
  • Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers, set info, or the question itself. Those who do not do this will be penalized 10 points right off the bat.
  • Sheep questions are not marked by an S:, because this is ONLY a Sheep game.

Game Specific Rules
Spoiler:
INCORRECT ANSWERS - In this game there ARE incorrect answers. And you will be penalized 10 points for providing one.
An incorrect answer is an answer that is not possibly correct. For example, Billy Crystal is an incorrect answer to question #1.
I will judge whether an answer is incorrect. You can argue about it, but you probably won't win.

The game will be played by the first 20 (or so) people who PM me with answers --or whoever answers by Monday night if it's slow going.
On Monday night, I'll start sorting out the answers so that I can post them in the forum Tuesday.
Remember, I'm gonna do this by hand so give me a break.

Don't PM with questions about the questions!

The Questions

ALL THESE QUESTIONS ARE ABOUT THE ACADEMY AWARDS [aka OSCARS] THAT HAVE BEEN AWARDED OVER THE LAST TWENTY YEARS --SINCE LABOR DAY 1989.
REFERENCES TO "MAJOR AWARD" REFER TO OSCARS AWARDED FOR BEST PICTURE, BEST DIRECTOR, AND IN THE FOUR ACTING CATEGORIES.

1) According to IMDb, there was no official host for the Oscar ceremony in March 1989. In 1990, Billy Crystal hosted the Oscars for the first time. The best Oscar host in the last 20 years who is not Billy Crystal is...?

2) The best acceptance speech given by the winner of a major award was [this person] --in [what year] or for [what movie]? x2

3) The least deserving Best Picture winner was...?

4) The best film/movie that was nominated for Best Picture but didn't win, and that didn't have John Travolta dancing in it, was...?

5) The best film/movie that wasn't even nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, and that didn't have Heath Ledger in it playing The Joker, was...? x4

6) The sexiest woman to win an acting Oscar was...?

7) The sexiest man to win an acting Oscar was...?

8) The least deserving person to win an acting Oscar was...? x3

9) At the Academy Awards ceremony in 1989, Rob Lowe sang "Proud Mary" with Snow White. The worst musical performance since that ceremony was...?

10) The most memorable fashion triumph or disaster was worn by...?

11) Aside from "Lord of the Rings: ROTK" winning Best Picture in 2004, the major award that was most spot-on was...? x3

12) The most memorable moment at an Academy Awards ceremony in the last 20 years was...? x8

Re: Oscar SHEEP for Labor Day Laborers

Anyone alive here?

The only one I can't come up with is the worst musical performance because to me they all suck and I change the channel when they are on

100 views but only one person has sent in answers, so I don't know what to think.

I thought it might be a slow climb to 20 on Labor Day, but didn't figure it would be a slow climb to 2 !

Just to be clear, this includes ALL the production numbers.
Spoiler:
When I wrote the question, I actually figured there would be one that stood out.

I'll be sending mine in a minute. I'm trying to decide which one to use for what question. #2 and #12 could be the same answer.

Re: Oscar SHEEP for Labor Day Laborers

Just four people replied with answers, so... that's disappointing.

I guess I could wait until morning and maybe some people returning to work will see the thread and jump in, but that's not what I said I was gonna do, so--

We have five players:
bootsy, Drexl, chowderhead (who I think is also Rockmjd23), JasonF, and myself [Count Dooku]

With just five players, there were a lot of unique answers, but also enough matches to make the finish interesting.

I'm gonna finish up listening to my audiobook of The Time Traveler's Wife and burn through this.

It's a wonderful night for Oscar! Oscar, Oscar! Who will win?

At this point, I was wondering if it was clear that the idea was to guess the most POPULAR answer.

Spoiler:

Steve Martin was best. [Drexl and Count Dooku]

--And 2 others liked:
Spoiler:
Jon Stewart [chowderhead and JasonF]

Why do you feel the need to add your own little personal comments especially when you could barely get anyone to play your game.
Well I can see why no one played your game. If you are gonna be a smart azz. I would love to see one of these sheep game where we don't have someone commenting on a person's answer. Whoopi Goldberg was a host and she was a host a lot of times. That's why I CHOSE HER. SMARTASS

2) The best acceptance speech given by the winner of a major award was [this person] --in [what year] or for [what movie]? x2

There were three unique answers:
1
Spoiler:
bootsy said Steven Spielberg accepting for Schindler's List in 1994.

Embedding of Oscar acceptance speech video clips is disabled.

2
Spoiler:
Count Dooku said Tom Hanks accepting for Philadelphia also in 1994.

Embedding of Oscar acceptance speech video clips is disabled.

What can I say? The only Oscar speech that was the basis for a movie.

Since I started the game, I figured I would follow through and post the answers, and try to do so in an entertaining way.
But, my attempts to be amusing have already pissed off 25% of the people who bothered to play. I apologize to bootsy.

Now I'm just gonna ask a Mod to close the thread.

Sorry

The winner was

chowderhead

I think this was bad timing more than anything else. I don't spend much time here on weekends and holidays. I'd enter this one if there's a re-boot.
