This was the easiest one yet! Not only do I get to vote against utter nonsense like AMERICAN BEAUTY, MAGNOLIA, FIGHT CLUB and FARGO, but the films I voted for in those match-ups are ones I actually like!
Eight easy votes:
Pulp Fiction
12 Monkeys
Ed Wood
Star Trek VI
Boyz n the Hood
The Usual Suspects
Dances with Wolves
Groundhog Day

Pulp Fiction - Easy
Glengarry Glen Ross - Not so easy.
Ed Wood - I know people hate American Beauty, but I think it's a fine film.
Magnolia - not into old school Star Trek so much. Great movie.
Fight Club - Boyz is a fine film, Menace is superior, and would have beaten Fight Club.
The Usual Suspects - Excellent film. Toy Story is good too, but come on!
Fargo - Easy
Sling Blade - Easy

Pains me that Glengarry is losing out. I like 12 Monkeys, but GGR is one of my faves.
BTW, is there a place to view the brackets? I only see the TV and Artist ones.

I almost picked 12 Monkeys over Glengarry Glen Ross. Then I realized that I've watched Glengarry about 50 times more than 12 Monkeys. The movie is just terribly enjoyable and addictive.

Re: Favorite Movie of the 90's: Round of 64/Group #3
Matchup #1
#2 Pulp Fiction vs The Sixth Sense- Kind of tough, as Sixth Sense is so tight and well-done, but I just love Pulp Fiction and have watched it more times than I can count. It's almost unfair putting it up against a classic because The Sixth Sense is a far better movie than some of the others from this round that got paired off with lessor movies and will wind up unjustly ranked higher than Sixth Sense.
Matchup #2
12 Monkeys vs Glengarry Glen Ross- never seen Glengarry.
Matchup #3
Ed Wood vs American Beauty- This was tough. I really like Ed Wood and am a moderate Tim Burton fan. But, despite the cultural stereotypes that pretty much make up American Beauty, I find myself drawn to watch it every now and then and usually take something different from it each time. An unfairly maligned and deserving Best Picture.
Matchup #4
Magnolia vs Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country- Magnolia is probably my least favorite P.T. Anderson film (although Hard Eight would come close), but still, it's P.T. Fuckin' Anderson and anything he does is better than 99% of the crap out there.
And as a Star Trek fan, I think the films have never done justice to the various TV series. ST6 was good as far as Trek films go, but it was just another attempt to remake Wrath of Khan, as were parts 3 and 5 and all of the Next Generation pictures.
Matchup #5
Fight Club vs Boyz N the Hood- I've always had a sneaking suspicion that Fincher is overrated. A great visual artist who uses beautiful cinematography and very clever transitions, but his films just do not move me in any emotional way whatsoever. It took Benjamin Button to finally admit to myself that as much as I wanted to be a fan of his, I'm just not. Fight Club also pissed me off because it seems to glorify nihilism and terrorism.
I haven't seen Boyz in the Hood in many many years, but I remember it having an emotional impact on me, which is more than I can say about any Fincher film.
Matchup #6
The Usual Suspects vs Toy Story 2- I don't know, don't hold me to this. It's been so long since I've seen either. The Toy Storys are fantastic cartoons, but they're cartoons. Pair it against a really shitty film and I'll vote for it then.
Matchup #7
Fargo vs Dances With Wolves- The Coen's are just too cool for school, and apparently I'm kinda square, so it just ain't happening. I saw Fargo but couldn't tell you a thing about it other than "yah!". Dances With Wolves was an effective epic.
Matchup #8
Groundhog Day vs Sling Blade- My apologies, I haven't seen Sling Blade, but Billy Bob can eat my shit (sorry, I still hold a grudge for that radio interview that he pulled a fucked-up stunt on). He's just a human being, and I don't wish him ill, but man has he rubbed me the wrong way. Groundhog Day is one of the best comedies of the past 20 years, so I'm voting for it.
#2 Pulp Fiction vs The Sixth Sense- Kind of tough, as Sixth Sense is so tight and well-done, but I just love Pulp Fiction and have watched it more times than I can count. The Sixth Sense (by a galaxy)
12 Monkeys (tough choice, I like them both)
Ed Wood
Don't like either one
Boyz N the Hood (Easy choice. Fight Club is a piece of shit movie directed by a hack.)
Toy Story 2 (Easily)
Fargo (easily)
Groundhog Day (Easy choice despite the fact that I enjoy Sling Blade)

#2 Pulp Fiction
#66 The Sixth Sense
This was the most difficult for me but I went with The Sixth Sense gimmick and all. Very close though.
#31 12 Monkeys
#95 Glengarry Glen Ross
Very Easy. 12 Monkeys hands down
#15 Ed Wood
#50 American Beauty
Another no brainer for me. American Beauty no doubt!
#18 Magnolia
#47 Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Magnolia hands down!
#7 Fight Club
#58 Boyz N the Hood
Fight club
#26 The Usual Suspects
#39 Toy Story 2
My favorite film vs. one of the best pixar films. Still no contest for me, The Usual Suspects wins.
#10 Fargo
#55 Dances With Wolves
Fargo beats out Dances. Not the Coens best but definately better than dances.
#23 Groundhog Day
#42 Sling Blade
Groundhog Day is the best comedy of all time so it runs away with the win for me...ummmhmm
