Battle Royale, Boogie Nights, Dogville, Fight Club, Lost In Translation, The Matrix, Shaun of the Dead and Team America are all great movies that I like a lot. Big fan of Quentins works, so it makes a bit of sense that there are some matches.
How he came up with Anything Else out of the Woody Allen movies of the last 17 years... Heh. His recents movies met with some success, no doubt in part because he's not on screen, which is why I like them less. Not having seen Whatever Works I have high hopes that with Larry David in the Woody Allen role I'll love it.

I love that Tarantino loves Dogville. It's one of my favorites with incredible performances from Kidman and Bettany.

It is only wretched in your opinion. You also seemed to get a laugh out of a good moment on True Blood this past week, interesting.

I guess I need to go and get Battle Royale from Netflix. Off topic question: when you get movies from the Netflix Instant Queue, do you have any control over what aspect ratio you get, or is it typically full frame?

I'm surprised he pick Police Story 3 over Drunken Master 2 which is no doubt Jackie Chan's best martial art film he ever made.

I'm certainly no fan of his films, but kudos to him for including "The Insider" & "Unbreakable", which are two of my all-time favorite movies.

I was surprised how much I liked Dogville. Probably one of the few times I actually enjoyed a movie that Nicole Kidman was in. But I hated the sequel Manderlay.

DM2 has better martial arts, but PS3 has better stunts.

He must not have seen City of God as I'm sure it would be on that list or anyone's list for that matter.

Even Michelle Yeoh got a totally awesome stunt.

She pretty much stole the show, and this is what she did after her 5 year "retirement" (the movie, not the single stunt).

No shit, Sherlock. This is a message board where we post our opinions. Since that's a given, I rarely feel the need to qualify my posts with "IN MY OPINION."

Outside of the thrilling action sequences that eventually overstay their welcome, the entire flick is a clusterfuck of bad acting, even worse writing, and some absolutely horrific editing. It was jarring to the system to see how the mighty had fallen so, so low.

Ha. True Blood is a wonderful campfest and that scene was no different. The "dramatic" scenes tend to be the campiest because they're so out of place, and Eric's high-pitched yelping didn't help matters. IN MY OPINION, OF COURSE.

^ Eric crying and falling to his knees was the worst acting on tv so far this year.

The way he says "Boogie Nights" was funny. Really hit that "B".

[head tilt] What-ever are y'all talkin' about? [/head tilt]

There's bad acting in True Blood, but Skarsgård ain't part of it.

I completely agree with him on Battle Royale but, as much as I do enjoy it, I think Shaun of the Dead is one of the most overrated films of the last 17 years. It's good, but it ain't that good.

Except for scenes of Ricci lounging around in her panties, I'd say Anything Else is pretty lame, but Ebert made it his DVD of the week

I though "Shaun of the Dead" was fine, until they made it to the bar. Going serious like they did brought the movie crashing down.

I don't feel like going through the whole list, but I do love Dogville and Unbreakable, and I'm really glad he included them.

Re: Tarantino names his Top 20 movies since 1992

I think the mom stuff was a tad *TOO* serious for the type of movie this seemed to be.

I'm going along with this zombie movie parody and then get hit with something *really serious* like that? It felt really out of place in a movie I would consider a comedy/satire.

I've only seen eight of the flicks listed. And I think Fight Club would be the only one of the eight to make it to my list. Although I do love Shaun of the Dead and think that Boogie Nights, Lost in Translation, and Dazed & Confused are all good films.

Re: Tarantino names his Top 20 movies since 1992

Quentin Tarantino is my favorite writer/director, but the substitution of Friday for just one of these ten movies, would make me feel alot better about his list:

Trainspotting
American Beauty
Interview With The Vampire
Get Shorty
Pan's Labyrinth
Frailty
Ghost World
Gangs of New York
Adaptation

Leave Friday in there. I think his point is to have a comedy in there to contrast with the rest of his list and that is one of the best since 92.

i can't be the only one who hated Dogville with a passion? Its a boring movie, and don't get me started on the "set"
