Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
Correct. There are now two franchises, and it's up to you to decide if they are both good, both bad, or if it's a good vs. bad scenario.

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
And to clarify: You can't pick "Aliens" or "Evil Dead" as Franchise #1. Those franchises are taken.
You can pick James Cameron, Edgar Wright, David Fincher, etc. as your screenwriters. |

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
Here's a question: Alien is a franchise. Predator is a separate franchise. But then there's an Alien vs. Predator franchise. Is AvP considered it's own thing, or just a combo of the other two?

They've already been picked as Franchises. You cannot pick them.

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
You could argue that AvP is a third IP. You've got two movies, two video games, and countless comic books.
I'm not trying to pick AvP, just curious as to how that would get ruled. |

Well, then it couldn't be as silly.
I really hope Ash Ketchum picks Aliens or Predator for his second franchise. |
Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
Technical question: Let' say (hypothetically), I pick High School Musical and Aliens as my franchises and Sir Alec Guiness as one of my actors
Can I have Guiness play an enigmatic aged member of a mystical order that fights for justice using an energy sword and mysterious powers like telekensis (without saying that he is Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Knight)? Or is that considered cheating and sneaking in a third franchise? |

For those of you interested in getting cracking on your one-sheet, here's a Photoshop template. (Basically just the size with the little squished text on the bottom).
There's a lot of cool+free fonts for your poster here: http://www.abstractfonts.com/ |

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
Franchise the first:
Calvin and Hobbes Now I just have to think of a complementary franchise. Also can we have multiple entries? Or is that being too greedy, I'd like to try something a little edgy as well. |

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
To reiterate and clarify:
Calvin & Hobbes is the franchise. You can have someone famous play Calvin, or do the voice of Hobbes. Or maybe you want the famous actors to be Calvin's parents or Susie. If you fill your roles with famous actors, Calvin will be played by a newcomer actor, and Hobbes will be voiced by an unknown voice actor. |

That would be considered cheating. Any other characters would need to be your creation or established archetypes (grizzled police detective, vengeful ghost, kung-fu monk, etc.).
I suppose I'll draft both the franchise and the actor, and if people think the way I describe the role is too close to the specific character, then I will recast Sir Alec from "mystical space knight" to "facehugger victim #1." |
Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
As franchise #1, if it hasn't been mentioned already, I'd like to pick Terminator.
|
Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
Is it too late to get in on this? If not I pick:
Franchise #1 - Death Wish |

Actor: Brad Pitt

Actor - Robert Downey Jr
|
Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

Mano: I think it's safe for you to jump in with a second pick.

It will be good to see Bruce in a starring role again!

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game
Bruce Campbell in an Evil Dead film? That sounds a bit too off-the-wall.
