"any band that has ever recorded and released anything"

So, obviously, the answer is no.

I am in. This seems much less straight forward than the past tournaments. I expect no less from you Bus. ;)

Are we going to start drafting this Monday or perhaps tomorrow?

I've got my idea, count me in

woody5254 and Suprmallet have both agreed to help out on this, so this is a go. The first round of the draft will begin tomorrow (Thursday).

I've rewritten the description of the game: is it clearer?

I thought just drafting movies is less interesting. Here at least you get to put some thought into it. It really isn't very complicated.

To me at least.

Yes, but sadly I have to completely re-do my planning spreadsheet.

My goal is for this to be fun, not complicated. I'd love clarify anything. I'm trying to make it as clear as possible, but I'm obviously failing at that. I should've gone into law...

Director still isn't on the list of positions.

You may find this <a href="http://www.fantasticdamage.com/blog/BtP1.xls">Excel file</a> (or its <a href="http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Asm-9xufUpeedHFQbWlNeF9Ga0cxa284VVN5Rk9Ub2c&hl=en">Google Docs counterpart</a>) helpful.

Actually, those instructions are a lot easier to understand. I look forward to seeing the entries!

The Bus 08-19-09 02:11 PM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

I hope we get enough entries. We'd need, realistically, at least 8. We will absolutely max out at 32 though, possibly 16.

I haven't decided how to handle people that stop filling their spots. In previous games, we just had someone else take over after X days off.

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

In the past I think we just created a list of "alternates" from people who wanted to play but missed the cut-off after the game was full. If somebody missed two turns they were dropped from the game and their picks given to the first alternate in line.

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

Do you have to pick the actor that goes along with the franchise?
Say i pick Austin Powers as my franchise, do i have to pick Michael Myers as an actor or is that a given?

Groucho 08-19-09 02:22 PM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

If you pick Austin Powers as your franchise, and somebody else snags Michael Myers as a main actor you'll have to recast (or make Powers and Evil "supporting" characters).

The Bus 08-19-09 02:23 PM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

Yes, you still need to pick the actor. Think of what is most important. In your case, it's easy. No one likes Michael Myers. ;)

sauce07 08-19-09 02:45 PM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

If I have Austin Powers vs. Three Amigos can I pick Michael Myers, Chevy Chase and Steve Martin as my actors and Martin Short as a supporting actor?

The Bus 08-19-09 02:59 PM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

I don't see why not. When you pick a franchise with a lot of members you always run the risk of not being able to cast everyone properly.

Groucho 08-19-09 03:11 PM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

Heresy! Everybody knows that Ned Nederlander was the primary Amigo.

Round 1 pick: Rocky and Bullwinkle

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

In regards to the franchise and actor picks, say I picked the Indiana Jones movies as my franchise pick, but someone beats me out and picks Harrison Ford as their actor choice - does that mean I must pick another actor to play the Indiana Jones character?

Drexl 08-20-09 12:21 AM

Re: Be the Producer — A Movie Talk Draft Game

I have an idea for something, but I don't know if it would count because other franchises are essentially part of it (or at least implied).
