Surprised there's no thread, searched by title, by "Traveler wife," by Eric Bana, and could not find a thread.
I really enjoyed it, and it was a big tear-jerker.
Rachel McAdams spoils THE WHOLE THING with Jon Stewart:

Funny if you've seen the movie or don't mind spoilers.

Wasn't going to see it, but thanks to her I now don't need to if I ever have the inkling to do so. Thanks for saving me 5 bucks Ms McAdams.

I watched Rachel McAdams on Jon Stewart, and was wondering why she was spoiling the whole damn movie! Stewart had a great opening if he would have said, "Thank god you weren't cast in The Sixth Sense!"

In fairness to her, well, she's cute. Plus, It is based on a novel, so if you've read the novel (not saying you have) well then you know what's going to happen anyway. Plus plus, It was on The Daily Show. I don't think that's the demographic to go out and see The Time Traveler's Wife.

Went and watched it with the wife last night. I enjoyed it for what it was. Always like McAdams.
This was the first movie I've went that had a 5 to 1 girl to boy ratio and it was funny when it showed Bana's nakedness all the noises made by the ladies.

Yeah, I was mildly interested in seeing this in the theater because of the time-travel aspect. Then I watched TDS and couldn't believe it as she just dropped spoiler after spoiler and Stewart couldn't believe she was doing it either. Now it'll be no more than a rental for me.

It's great this finally came out, so I don't have to keep seeing the craptastic previews for it.

I thought it was ok but after the reading the book it was kinda disappointing. You just don't get the sense these people really care for each other in the movie. And it seems choppy because he keeps going forward and backwards. You don't get to bond with the characters like you do in the book.
Loved Bana's ass.

I loved the book and thought the movie wasn't as bad as the trailer made it out to be.

I've only seen a handful of commercials for this. I'm really in to time travel but this one just seems to have a The Lake House vibe. Pass.

Yeah, I was really surprised by that interview. I've already read the book, so I didn't mind all the spoilers, but I couldn't believe that Jon Stewart didn't change the subject and redirect it somehow. It wasn't like they just talked about the plot a little too much ... the entire interview was spoilers for the movie. That was, by far, the worst interview I've seen on the show.

I think the mere title of the movie is just as much a spoiler as anything Rachel McAdams said on The Daily Show.
(BTW, that photo doesn't do her justice. How she looked on The Daily Show, though - WOW!)

The wife wanted to see this today. She saw District 9 with me, so I obliged her. She was on the edge of her seat for that one, btw. Even she gave this 6/10. It was pretty mediocre for me too. And spoilers from The Daily Show ultimately don't even matter. The ending is telegraphed to the audience early in the film. Also it was a very repetitive film. Same crap over and over. Snooze fest, but I guess most girls like it. There was quite a lot of sniffling and boo-hooing at the end credits.
Their was a scene where a string quartet played the Joy Division song "Love Will Tear Us Apart." At that moment, someone in our audience started clapping. huh? Okay, whatever . . . calm down!

I agree. The movie wasn't horrible, but I was really emotionally disconnected during most of it. Time traveling in the novel is a catalyst for a very strong love story and the movie didn't live up to the book. Generally, that's the case, but I was hoping to be more pleased with this adaptation.
I really like Rachel McAdams, but I thought Bana was miscast as Henry. He's a good actor, but didn't fit this role

The trailer got me intrigued enough to read the book. I just started so I doubt I'll check this out in the theater. Oh, and from the feedback looks like I should avoid it until rental time anyway.
I'm only about 100pp in and really like it so far, btw.
