Re: Your Top 10 Favorite Directors

Sounds like fun...

James Cameron
Michael Mann
Coen Brothers
Wachowskis
David Fincher
Chris Nolan
Martin Scorsese
Guillermo del Toro
Greg Mottola (Superbad and Adventureland)
Peter Jackson

Lots more, and I've little complaint with many already listed, but the above ten never failure to deliver something interesting.

Re: Your Top 10 Favorite Directors

Some of you are not reading the thread correctly. The OP was asking for your favorite ten directors that are working today. Kurosawa, Altman, and Leone are great directors but the reason they are not working today now is because they are dead.

Yuen Wo Ping
Lau Kar Leung
I forgot about Takeshi Kitano (KIKUJIRO, BROTHER, ZATOICHI). I'll take Tsui Hark off my list and put in Kitano.

My favorites list (of current directors):
M. Night Shyamalan
Christopher Nolan
Steven Spielberg
Sam Raimi

Coen Brothers
Cameron Crowe
Hayao Miyazaki

Overall list:
Akira Kurosawa
Francois Truffaut

Alfred Hitchcock
Steven Spielberg
Woody Allen

Selecting just ten to be my favorites is hard to do though...

Roland Emmerich: Directed my favorite movie Independence Day, and then when doing this list I found out he did another Top 10 of mine in the Patriot. Yeah he sucked at Day After Tomorrow, but wit ID4 he's got to make my list. I've watched that movie 1000 times in the past 13 years.

Robert Zemeckis: Forrest Gump, Back To The Future 1 and 2, Cast Away. Love them all.

Michael Bay: I don't go into a Bay movie expecting to leave a changed person. I got to enjoy a movie and with Transformers I get that. Then I really enjoyed Armageddon and The Rock. Pearl Habor was a good watch too IMO

M. Night Shyamalan. I like this style a lot. Yeah I got suckered into the Village like everyone else, but I have to say Signs to me is a awesome movie and the way he did a lot of things helped make it what it was.

LOL...27 and 1/2

As I said I probably don't take movies as serious as most people here do, sure I collect DVD's and enjoy buying them every week but at the sametime you won't catch me arguing about if someone lifes something I don't.
