No one has mentioned Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs yet? 16 minutes of screen time- shortest to ever win an Best Actor Oscar.

That's what I was coming in to post. So instead I'll say Judi Dench in Shakespeare in Love.

LILA KEDROVA in Hitchcock's Torn Curtain. Her big scene with Paul Newman and Julia Andrews is a heart-breaker.

(Most people remember her for her Oscar-winning role as Mme Hortense inZorba The Greek.)

I dunno who he was but the guy that played Hollis Mason whose role is greatly, though still short, expanded in Watchmen.

The shortest and bestest performance in 'True Romance' was Val Kilmer as Elvis.

Some of these are a bit of a stretch. Esp. Sean Connery, who is essentially a co-star of Costner's in it and is seen throughout the film until...he's not. But it's not a short performance by any means.

That's Kipp Hamilton, an American actress who was the sister-in-law of Carol Burnett. She died at the age of 45 in 1981.

Re: Short Memorable Performances?

Mickey Rourke perked up Francis Coppola's JOHN GRISHAM'S THE RAINMAKER so much that when he disappeared from the movie it was quite noticeable. At a certain point during the trial, I thought, "I wish Mickey Rourke would come back into the movie." And, sure enough, Matt Damon (or was it Danny DeVito?) goes off to make a phone call to Florida and who picks up on the other end? Mickey Rourke. Yaaay! But then he disappeared from the movie again.

Matt Damon in Courage Under Fire. I'd never seen him in anything else, but I remember telling my girlfriend (now my wife) "That's an actor to watch".
