"Evil Dead II" or "Drag Me To Hell"?

since ED II was clearly the winner in this poll: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk/...imi-movie.html
i thought it would be fun for an update and pit the previous favorite with his critically praised and fan adored latest.

i am actually queing (sp?) up ED II to watch sometime tonight and will reserve my opinion till after.

but, DMTH was never boring and a lot of fun, but owed to much to ED II from what i remember. tonight's refresher will see if it holds up to the latest incarnation of Raimi evil and thus surpasses.

so after seeing DMTH, do you prefer it over ED II and why?

Evil Dead 2.... because it's still the greatest movie I've ever seen.

Re: "Evil Dead II" or "Drag Me To Hell"?

Honestly for me, at this moment, it will probably go to ED2... but it's too early to tell as I've only seen Drag Me to Hell once so far and I've had many. many years to digest and rewatch ED2.

But I think that the fact I am debating this so closely already says a lot. I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if one day DMtH ends up on the top for me of these two flicks.

FWIW, I prefer Evil Dead to the sequels, but I've been a pretty huge Raimi fan since as long as I can remember.

Drag Me To Hell was great, but Evil Dead 2 is a stone cold classic.

It's from High Fidelity (another movie everyone, everywhere really ought to watch).

I'd put it at his 5th best. Behind the 3 Evil Dead films and Simple Plan (haven't seen Crimewave).

Re: "Evil Dead II" or "Drag Me To Hell"?

I actually think that A Simple Plan, Spider-Man 2 and Army of Darkness are better than Evil Dead II, but that's just me. (according to that old thread, I picked Spidey 2 with EDII close behind - but I've since rewatched all of the above and reordered my list accordingly) It'll take some time to see exactly where Drag Me to Hell stacks up, but I think it'd be right behind those 4....so for the purpose of this thread, Evil Dead II.

Give me a fucking break. This poll is retarded. Drag Me to Hell doesnt come close to any of Raimi's best.

And how would you know? Have you even seen it!? You only posted in the
"Drag Me to Hell" thread that it "looks retarded". A million bucks you haven't.

I say read the book and see the movie. I think that they are both very good. The book is a great quick read and the movie is something I put on every now and again just because.

Re: "Evil Dead II" or "Drag Me To Hell"?

The only reason I am bothered slightly by the High Fidelity scene is because it seems like they might be talking more about Army of Darkness than Evil Dead II, which is distracting.

Even though I loved Drag Me to Hell, this is a silly poll. Evil Dead II hands down.
