American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009)

Yea...its happening.

American Pie Presents: Book of Love is the fourth film in the American Pie Presents direct-to-dvd series and seventh film overall. It is to be released sometime in 2009.

It will be directed by John Putch, and it is the only title in the series that is derived from the Don McLean song. Bug Hall, Kevin M. Horton, and Brandon Hardesty will portray the lead characters. Eugene Levy also returned to reprise his role as Noah Levenstein for the seventh time. It is reported that this installment will attempt to stay true to the original film by combining comedic and dramatic elements together. Louisa Lytton is to play an English character called Imogen.
Gotta love Eugene - he just loves him some money.

In addition to Levy, I heard another original cast member may return also.

Spoiler:
Tara Reid

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

At least these movies are more of a spin-off and they're not calling them American Pie 4, 5, 6...etc. I've watched a couple and they're okay for what they are (direct-to-dvd spinoffs).

As for the the spoiler above:

Spoiler:
She needs the money

Jesus Christ! When the hell did they make 6 American Pie movies? I only know of 3 (part 1,2, and something Band Camp). I've only seen the first one and didn't care too much for that, so go on with your bad self Pie Fucker.

I could have sworn at one point this was meant to go theatrical, ala Fast & Furious.

I think they might still be planning a real American Pie 4. But these "presents" will always be DTV.

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

I always thought something like American Baby would have been interesting, with Jim and the Band Geek having a baby. Stifler could show up at lamaze class.

But then again, those characters are probably better off left alone after American Wedding.

EDIT: Nevermind about my Tara Reid spoiler above...

Tara Reid will no longer be doing the film. ''Her deal couldn't be completed in time'' an official source says. ''Reid's deal was expected to close on Friday, but it couldn't be done''. Pity too, as they'd just rewritten one of the characters in the script to be Vicki Lathum.

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

As someone else mentioned, they should have just done American Reunion. It is the 10th anniversary of the first film so it would have been perfect timing. It may be hard to get Alyson Hannigan and Sean William Scott back though considering they don't really need the work.

Eugene Levy doesn't need this kind of work, but he does it anyway.

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

I've always thought it was odd that of all the original series cast members, Eugene Levy was the one they decided to throw cash at to keep some fraction of continuity. Surely Eddie Kaye Thomas can't have *that* much higher of an asking fee, and a Finch-centered spinoff could have at least had some potentially workable ideas if done right.

Finch presumably isn't as knowledgeable as Eugene Levy's character would be. I haven't seen any of these but I presume that Levy's character basically shows up for one scene, to dispense some advice. If you had Finch, you'd probably have to put him in more of the movie.

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

Not surprising, these movies can't be very expensive and probably do very well on DVD. I would do the same if I were Levy.

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

I am guessing by the title "The Book of Love", the plot is going to revolve around the "the Bible" from the first film.

Re: American Pie 7: Book of Love

I noticed I had 'American Pie' with some bonus DVD in separate case, and 'American Pie 2' with a similar bonus DVD of extras in a separate case a few months ago.

They were all in shrinkwrap still unopened. I don't know how I have them but there they were in the bottom of one of the drawers in a chest of drawers I have filled with DVDs in an unused bedroom

I put in one of them in to watch, the first one or the sequel, and couldn't stand it. It was beyond horrible. It was so terrible I just took it out.

MAN these are terrible, terrible movies.

7 movies in 10 years. Is that a record for a new franchise?

If there is ever a time for a direct to dvd film to get nominated for an Oscar, this 7th Pie film should be the one!

Nah, James Bond had 7 movies in 9 years. Friday the 13th had 8 in 9 years. And all those played in theaters.
