E.T. sequel in the works???
Steven Spielberg and Drew Barrymore are in talks to bring legendary movie alien E.T. back to Earth in a big budget Hollywood sequel. Twenty-seven years after a six-year-old Barrymore melted film fans' hearts playing little Gertie, a girl who befriends an extraterrestrial visitor, and director Spielberg wants to reunite the pair. According the National Enquirer, Barrymore and Spielberg have met to discuss the project, which will show E.T. returning to Earth to rejoin the now-adult Gertie. A source tells the tabloid, "Steven and Drew are being very secretive about this baby. But they want to do this project and work together. Steven has an incredible story in mind for the sequel that will bring E.T. back to earth." i hope this is complete bullshit....otherwise :suicide: |

Smells like bullshit to me, but then again I don't hold E.T. in that high regard, so if they wanna do it knock themselves out.

Considering the source, and the fact that Spielberg has said he doesn't want to make a sequel to E.T., I doubt this is legitimate.

A sequal would totaly suck. I saw the 20th anniversery version at the cinema and found the added scenes to be so overproduced.

After 37 years, E.T. comes back to visit his friend, Elliott, for the holidays. During his stay, E.T. learns that Elliott now has a family of his own and that technology has completely changed on Earth since his last visit. |

Kinda cool. Works as a short follow-up and probably better than getting a full on sequel, which I’m sure would probably wind up much a retread like most of this this short was.

I liked it as a nice little throwback, but I'd love to see a real feature-lenth sequel. Probably never happen, though.

I liked it, though it's sad the best thing Eliot has to show E.T. in the last 40 years is Comcast Xfinity.
