I have no problem with this being made. Reynolds' scenes during the first part of Wolverine were some of the better ones in the movie. And I didn't really have any issues with how the character was portrayed in the last part of the film (of course, Deadpool arrived on the scene around the time that I stopped collecting comics, so I wasn't terribly familiar with him to begin with).

Another one not too familiar with the Deadpool character (had been out of comics long before he appeared). Is this a character who could actually sustain a movie or is an Elektra like box office a strong possibility?

That could work out..but at time same time I'd think it'd be too much of a CG fest. What they need is to make this fucker rated-R, which I can't see happening from Fox now. You know how they fix Deadpool after what happened in Wolverine. Make him break the forth wall in the beginning of the film and talk shit about how he's now fucked with what he is. Almost as if the character is pissing on what happened. Seems to work w/ the comics..

I think the example people can always come back to is Blade, a pretty much unknown character that had decent success. Granted dealing with vampires attracts a larger audience, but character recognition isn't always a need for something like this.

It'd be about Deadpool kicking ass, never shutting up, being crazy, thinking his thoughts out loud (well maybe in a film this wouldn't work unless he has the mask) and looking like a burn victim. Everyone and no one is his enemy..actually that's a good question.

Guns too. Deadpool has swords and guns. I just hope they stick to his mouth. He needs to get that back if there's any hope for this movie.

I dunno. I've seen him shoot himself in the head, just to make a point of something, and he later gets up and does his thing. But...yeah...I dunno. They fucked up the character in Wolverine...

Big enough that I'm assuming he only took the throwaway cameo role for the potential of this movie... you'd think if he knew anything about the comics he would've objected to the end result. Just sayin...
