Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
#71 Let the Right One In
#103 Wes Craven's New Nightmare (easily) #90 The Devil's Rejects #74 Pet Sematary #106 Zombi #87 A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (easily, Cloverfield is a piece of shit. Also its not a horror movie. Its a blair witch take on Godzilla. GOdzilla 98 was the better film.) #62 House of 1000 Corpses #99 Ju-On #35 Phantasm (Shaun of the Dead is not a Horror movie) |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
even though I loved Shaun I had to go with Phantasm.
|
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
is "Zombie"...really Fulci's "Zombie 2" and not the Argento's cut of Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" (1978)?
|
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
n/a (Love Caligari but still haven't seen Let the Right One In)
New Nightmare (easily the best of the sequels) Event Horizon Carrie Candyman n/a n/a (TCM III was average, House of 1,000 Corpses an embarrassment) The Blair Witch Project Phantasm |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Final Destination Event Horizon Carrie Abstain Cloverfield Abstain The Blair Witch Project Phantasm Really liked Phantasm because of the reactions of the characters. "Hey something funny going on, you take the 45 auto and I'll take the 12 gauge". Sensible decisions. Also that Barracuda:drool:. |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
These are, again, my wife's votes. Except I, too, would have voted for Shaun of the Dead. Last year, at the Fright Night Film Fest, though, I met Angus Scrimm and he was kind enough to autograph my ticket stub. Very friendly guy.

Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
abstain - "Let the Right One In"? HUH? Never heard of it
Final Destination Event Horizon - easily Carrie - tough Zombie - easily Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors by a million miles Texas Chainsaw Massacre III The Blair Witch Project, I guess Phantasm - easily |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Final Destination Event Horizon Pet Semetary Zombie Cloverfield House of 1000 Corpses The Blair Witch Project Shaun of the Dead |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
Let the Right One In - Hard to vote against Cabinet, but have to admit that I'll end up watching it less.
Final Destination - Not a big Freddy fan, except for the original, and FD is a guilty pleasure favorite. Event Horizon - By a mile. Pet Semetary - Carrie never did much for me, maybe I need to re-watch it, as I'll admit that PS isn't great. N/A - Haven't watched either, although Zombie just arrived via Netflix I think. N/A - Not sure if I've seen Freddy 3. Cloverfield was alright. N/A - Haven't seen TCM 3, but it has to be better than anything by Zombie. I hate his films. Ju-on - Tough choice, as I really enjoy both. Shaun of the Dead - Tough choice, as I love Phantasm and agree that SotD is not a real horror. But I like to mess with the system. |

I imagine you're a horror fan if you're bothering to vote here, so I recommend at least a rental. |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
abstain (haven't seen Dr. Caligari)
abstain (don't care for either) Devil's Rejects Pet Sematary Candyman Dream Warriors (cheesy, but fun) House of 1000 Corpses Blair Witch Phantasm (easy pic considering it's up against a comedy) |
Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
Only voted fro Event Horizon and Pet Semetary. Lots of stuff I haven't seen or didn't like.

Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
The Cabinet of Dr Caligari - Liked both but Cabinet is a classic.
New Nightmare - Both are flawed but I'll go with Freddy. The Devil's Rejects - Brutal movie. Carrie - Another where I really like both but Carrie beats Pet. Zombie - No contest. Because of the producers' title, it is unfairly labelled a Dawn of the Dead ripoff. It isn't. NOES: Dream Warriors - Cloverfield was way overrated and Dream Warriors is the second best of the Nightmare series. TCM3 - Underrated and House just didn't quite do it for me. Ju-on - Much scarier than boring witch project. Phantasm - Shaun is the better movie but as far as horror goes, Phantasm gets the win. |

Let the Right One In
Final Destination - really could've gone either way. The Devil's Rejects Pet Sematary Candyman Cloverfield TCM III The Blair Witch Project Phantasm - it's a classic, while Shaun is just a bad joke. |

If people are voting Let the Right One In over Caligari it must be an incredible film. My expectations are through the roof on this one.

Re: Horror Tournament Round #1/Group #6
Let the Right One In- I've watched this multiple times since I first saw it, and can't stop showing everyone it. Caligari's good, but I can't say the same for it.
Wes Craven's New Nightmare - I love the premise of Final Destination, but the cast annoys the shit out of me. New Nightmare I loved. It's no Dream Warriors, but I really enjoyed it. The Devil's Rejects- While Event Horizon may be WS's only watchable movie (and it is a decent thriller), it takes itself a little too seriously for the amount of cheese in it. I loooved Devil's rejects. Pet Sematary- This was a little tough, but I can watch Pet Sematary anytime and constantly quote it. Plus, it had quite the impact on me when I was younger. Zombie- Candyman may be a little more watchable, but I can't get over how I was a bit disappointed when I recently watched it again after not seeing it since its release. Zombie is just really sweet. A couple scenes really make it. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors- I really love Cloverfield, but Dream Warriors is one of my absolute favorites, as is the Nightmare series as a whole. House of 1000 Corpses- I wasn't a huge fan of House, but I'll surely take it over TCM 3. Ju-On- I would take nearly any movie over Blair Witch. You couldn't pay me to watch it again. Phantasm- This is hard because I love Shaun of the Dead so much, but there's no way it could fill Phantasm's shoes. Too much nostalgia there, too. |
