Is "Who Framed Rogger Rabbit 2?" ever coming out?

A prequel called "Toon Platoon" never got out of the pre-development stage.

A sequel to such a great film over 15 years later would almost surely suck. Especially with Mel Blanc dead.

I think it is safe to say the DVD for Roger Rabbit 2 is quite a ways away...

I read an article a while ago that said the budget for Roger Rabbit 2 was eventually used for Pearl Harbor.

I don't think this one will ever come. First off, considering the first one had both Warner and Disney characters in it, it would be a trademark nightmare to obtain all of those rights (and would cost a fortune). Second, Roger Rabbit was such a landmark film for the time topping it would be almost impossible.

Disney was going to do a sequel in the early 90's, that would have supposedly been a prequel where the toons fight in World War II, but the cost was deemed too high. The script and project were eventually shelved, and Roger Rabbit has only shown up in some animated shorts here and there.

This project was just delayed, then recast using Tom Hanks and Matt Damon. The title was supposed to be "Saving Private Rabbit."

I don't think it would work now.

There's a sequel to the book that's not too bad.

They could have done the movie with CGI but it would not be the same.

While I wouldn't mind a sequel, the problem is that it's almost fifteen years too late for a sequel. Most children (and pre-teens for that matter) do not know or are not familiar with the Roger Rabbit character to go see a sequel to the original '80s film. I wouldn't mind seeing one (if done correctly), but you know how that goes...

Buena Vista could pump millions into the sequel and it's advertising, but it would do nothing. The original film isn't as "fresh" as it was over a decade ago.

That also means no more Honey, I Shrunk The Kids sequels either. :(

I disagree. The film is just as fresh as ever. However, it's probably true that kids today won't recognize Roger Rabbit the way they recognize the more popular characters.

It's disgusting to think that the Roger Rabbit prequel was dropped in favor of Pearl Harbor and Treasure Planet. On the other hand, all the toons were going to be CGI? Maybe it was better they didn't make it.

i would love to see a RR sequel.. there was a rumor floating around years ago that a script treatment had been passed to Disney.. supposedly it takes place 10 years after the original.. Roger is working as the mascot for the new Los Angeles Dodgers.. and then Sputnik goes up and causes all sorts of problems.. or something to that effect..
