Movies you wish were never made?
ones that might tarnish a legacy, an original better left untouched or ones that you just shutter at the thought that someone actually greenlit such a turd fest aka shames the movie business for all time. movies that are so bad that you feel bad for the children of the parents that were one of 1,000 in the world to actually see it in theaters...

Sandlot 2 and 3
I refuse to watch those, since The Sandlot is my favorite sports movie.
while they weren't in theatres, they shouldn't have been made at all.

Battlefield Earth. One of my all time favorite SF novels, completely ruined.

Re: Movies you wish were never made?
There's lost of films I wish hadn't been made - not because they were expressly terrible, just disappointing. Even the bad films can serve as warnings and teaching examples for the future. However - mediocre films, especially adaptations and sequels, are more damaging because the uninformed viewer can be easily swayed by marketing/lack of alternatives/immaturity into thinking those films are good, which taints the benchmark for what makes a good film good.
So, if movies like I Am Legend, Indiana Jones 4, Crash, The Da Vinci Code The Fast and the Furious, and so on had never existed, I'd be fine. Most bad films can simply be dismissed and ignored. Movies like these, however, fool people and get them all confused over what makes a film good. Such people will ardently fight for the quality of The Phantom Menace with no concept of knowing how utterly stupid and foolish it will make him/her seem ten years on. In the meantime, new filmmakers are taught that these films, with their millions of dollars in sales, are the models to emulate.
Of course, if they had never existed, how would I have known them to know that they would be so banal and uninteresting? Movies like these exist so that enlightened people know not to repeat those sad mistakes again.

And what was the question you were answering?
Agree. Loved the first movie, but now when I see or hear a mention of The Matrix I get a bad taste in mouth. You can't help but think about it's horrible sequels when the original is brought up.
Another one off the top of my head would have to be 28 Weeks Later. They took a modern classic and turned it into a formulaic mess.

The Matrix sequels are some of the ones that actually do tarnish the original, imo. I usually don't feel that way about other franchises.

That's pretty much my exact same list. Except I yearn for an alternate universe where Godfather 3 includes Robert Duvall and no Sofia Coppola. I believe that would make a world of difference.

The Conqueror.
Not only is it a lousy movie (John Wayne as Genghis Khan?!), but it is widely accepted that it caused many of the cast members to develop cancer, due to its being filmed on an old A-bomb test site.

Wow, lots of people choosing Alien³, which is easily my favorite one (although I've only seen the quadrilogy workprint, never bothered to watch the theatrical cut), not to mention I like at least parts of The Matrix sequels, the Star Wars prequels (although II is one of the worst films ever), 28 Weeks Later, and other movies/people mentioned in this thread...
The only thing I really wish "hadn't happened" in movies is a horror staple: the return of a character from the original so they can die in the first five minutes of the follow up. The worst offender, IMO, is

There are a lot of films that most likely should have never been made, however since the have and people out there somewhere enjoy them, no big deal, for me it would most likely be sequels that they messed up on like redo X-Men 3, if Matrix was not to be a stand alone film, make the other two films not feel like such a mess.
I like Indiana Jones 4.

I like to imagine a world without the movie "The Bodyguard" because then I would never have to hear that awful Whitney Houston song played over and over.
