Coolest movie poster to hang in my "movie room"

I have my movie watching room set up now and wanted to put a few movie posters around on the walls and wondered which ones I should get. I have the 3 original Star Wars movies as posters and I only have room for probably 2 more at the most. I had thought about Return of the King, King Kong (1933), or Braveheart. I really like the posters with action happening (Star Wars ones, Kong swatting planes down, etc.). Anyway, any suggestions? All movies since 1930 are open to consideration. Thanks for any help.

It's your room, so I think you should choose from your favorite movies. Personally, I would suggest only one Star Wars poster at a time. Rotate them out periodically to keep the room fresh. If you have three of those and one or two other posters that don't match the theme at all, it'll look out of balance (especially in a smaller room).

Go here: http://www.impawards.com/index.html and rummage through their archives to see which posters were released from some of the movies you like. It isn't entirely comprehensive, but I think they do a pretty good job; especially to be a free site.

Personally, though, I would suggest adding one poster to the lot that isn't very action packed. A favorite of mine has always been the GoldenEye teaser, with just a close-up of Pierce Brosnan's face behind the Walther pointed forward. A friend has it displayed in his gaming room alongside such other posters as the original Revenge of the Jedi and The Shawshank Redemption and it's quite dramatic.

Once you decide, post your choices. It could be fun.

Escape From New York, whether you like the movie or not IMHO it is the best poster ever.

This reminded me that the AFI ranked the Top 100 Movie Posters of the 20th Century in 2003. Coinciding with their list, reprints were issued of the winners. You can view and even order them here: http://www.moviegoods.com/afi_top100a.asp?&

You know, in case anyone wants to "classic" up the joint.

LOL at Good Burger.

That Big Lebowski poster is TOO MUCH man! It makes me laugh every time I look at it though.

I like the other poster's suggestion of swapping out posters sometimes.
Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming!

It's a bit hard to find, but one of my favorites is my Jurassic Park advance poster. I can't find a pic right now, but there's no text or date, just the red and yellow JP logo over a black background. Always thought that looked badass.

Re: Coolest movie poster to hang in my "movie room"

Obviously one should choose among his favorite movies but in the spirit of the Lebowski poster, I am partial to foreign posters of my favorite movies. They usually feature different unique artwork and are real conversation starters.

Oh, the other thing. If you have some favorite old movie, try to get an original one sheet even if it is a real splurge. Obviously, we're not talking about $100K posters, but a few hundred bucks spent on something meaningful adds a lot to the experience of owning a poster.

There's a company that does reproductions of old (30s + 40s) movie posters using the same paint process that was originally used. They look wonderful but they are a bit on the expensive side (three figures). I don't remember their name but I know they used to have a store in the Venetian.
