Good night for the Asians and the Gays. Not so good night for african-americans and white-trash..

I thought he was great. Not his fault the show itself sucked.

This might have been the least surprising Oscars I can remember. Other than Waltz With Bashir somehow getting snubbed, there wasn't a single 'major' upset of any kind.

I also just realized that Doubt was completely shut out, that sucks.

So fucking sad that Rourke lost. Penn was damn good but Rourke was so real as that character. Wasn't it all pointing to Rourke winning if you want to talk about awards? I mean he won Bafta and Globes. Please don't tell me it was who Penn was playing, and subject matter, that swayed that vote. I really liked Milk for the most part, some odd shots but whatever, but don't tell me that it was that. Ugh...

I hate it when the cast of a movie or TV show schlep all the way up on stage when their movie or show wins.

And those poor kids from "Slumdog". To go from this huge Hollywood event to back to sleeping in boxes next week.

Hmmmmm the best part of the show this year might be the clips of the 2009 releases this year.

Did Rourke get love from other Awards Shows this season?

I think The Wrestler will still be considered one of the best films of 2008 and one that will remain a classic, regardless of Mickey's loss. He's back, that's what's most important.

Yay for Slumdog. You go, Danny Boyle. I've still yet to see Trainspotting and Sunshine. Though I do now own 28 Days Later...

He won the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. Penn won the SAG and Critics Choice.

I think I got 15 or 16. I really thought with as many (supposedly) wide open races that there would be some upsets. I actually did better than expected on the technical races, got killed in the acting categories.

Eh, out of that batch Frost/Nixon was best, IMO. My question is what token group will represent the 2010 awards.

I'm not a huge Hugh Jackman fan, but I think the quality of the show was pretty much out of his hands... was it his idea to the final five? to do a live song during the in memorium? to not play any clips for the major category nominees? to not remember to open the damn curtain on time on the first part of the show?

I would have done great if it weren't for those Short films (think I got 19/24).

Regarding the show, I thought there was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much singing. The borderline distasteful In Memoriam section was the capper.
