Inception (Nolan, 2010): Contemporary Sci-fi/Action
From The Hollywood Reporter:
Christopher Nolan has set up his next project with Warner Bros., an original screenplay he wrote called "Inception." The "Dark Knight" director hopes to shoot the sci-fi action film in the summer for a release during summer 2010. Nolan will produce with partner Emma Thomas, who served as a producer on "The Dark Knight." "Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes," Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said. "We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture." Given the billion-dollar bonanza Nolan delivered with "Knight," one would suppose a treatment based on some poems he wrote in his fifth-grade journal would have gotten the green light. The writer-director-producer has done well by the studio, with "Insomnia," "Batman Begins" and "The Prestige" bringing in close to half a billion in additional theatrical revenue. "Inception" is described as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind." This pushes back any potential filming on a new Batman film, but three years -- and "The Prestige" -- passed between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight." Nolan has also long been attached to direct a big-screen adaptation of the British TV series "The Prisoner" for producer Scott Stuber at Universal. |

Cool, Nolan and sci-fi sounds good to me. Hopefully doing his own thing between Batman movies will work out again and set him up for a 3rd one.

I'll watch anything the man puts to film. I'm always down for a new sci-fi/action flick.

What, you don't want to see two dozen Batman threads on the first page of the Movie Forum again any time soon?

The Cell 2?

The whole "treatment based on some poems he wrote in his fifth-grade journal" bit of the story gives me some pause but I loved The Prestige and was hoping his next film would be non-Batman related so I'll give this the benefit of the doubt.

Sounds pretty interesting. I hope this is a nice appetizer to Batman 3.

 at RocShemp.
For some reason from the tiny synopsis they gave my mind is conjuring a Minority Report Dark City vibe. Doesn't matter though, like Proyas, I'll watch anything this guy films. |

I'm in...Prestige was an awesome in-between flick. Hope this one is even better.

I'd love to see Bale and Caine in this one. I liked seeing them in The Prestige after Begins (and now TDK).

You had me at Nolan.

Re: Inception (Nolan, 2010): Contemporary Sci-fi/Action
Cool, glad to see he's not going right into Batman 3.
Take some time, step away and let those batteries recharge and film something else. |
