I thought Push would have done a little better. I see commercials for He's Just Not that Into You pretty much everywhere, so that's not a surprise.

I like how the box office predictions had thought Pink Panther 2 would be doing better - this tanking isn't a surprise - everyone who saw the first one thought it sucked shit - why would they come back for a second? Derp.

Because 10 year olds aren't known for having particularly discriminating tastes?

Taken is going to have a solid hold. Was that movie ever delayed? I could have swore I saw the preview for it many, many months ago.

Delayed so Fox could hack it up to get a PG-13. I actually saw He's just not that into you this weekend, not as bad as i thought it would be for a movie based on a self help book.

Isn't that a far cry better than those "Disaster Movie" type "comedies"?

Yeah, but when Paul Blart is headed toward a gross roughly 3 times more than There Will Be Blood made we still have a loooooooooooooong way to go.

I loved it...when I was 7.

Anyway, LOVING how well Taken is doing, Slumdog keeps its momentum up for the Oscars, racist Clint Eastwood makes a blockbuster...pretty good stuff.

On the other hand, Paul Blart Mall Cop's inexplicable success continues to evoke rage from my behalf. Even if it doesn't make enough to (likely) inspire a worse sequel, Observe and Report will easily be 100000x better just from the trailer alone.

Coraline was sold out at 3 different theaters I went to this weekend (I caught a few movies since it was raining all weekend). Very surprised.

Push only had a few patrons on opening night. And I saw quite a few people going in to PP2. Couldn't understand that.

Wow, great hold for Taken. That's a very modest drop. I'm hoping to find time to see it this week, although secretly I'd rather wait for the uncut BD.

Re: Weekend Box Office 2/06-2/08: They're Just Not That Into the Pink Panther

I'm guessing Taken and Paul Blart's solid holds have to do with last week's Super Bowl Sunday? What else can explain that miniscule 17% drop?
