I've always thought the oft-maligned A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge could actually be a pretty effective movie with a few trims here and there, basically to take out the silliness. The parakeet scene and most of the pool party are two that immediately come to mind.

I like this but I think when the movie was released it was a good way to serve as a teaser for Part III.

I don't think you'd need a teaser for Part 3, I think the anticipation of finding out the conclusion would be more than enough.

You'd leave the movie wondering just where Doc went and how will Marty get out of 1955 (again).

The actual teaser kinda ruins the 3rd movie, you find out that Marty ends up going to 1885 before you even see the thing. The least that could have been done was keep the "Marty goes to 1885" plot point a secret and maybe only show Doc 1885 scenes.

You guys should check out fanedit.org

That site is fantastic when it comes to fan edits and the explanation of why cut were made. Although, recently, you cannot download the edits anymore, but there are some really good ones (and editors) there.

Totally worth your time.

So how does that work?

As already mentioned, putting Pulp Fiction is chronological order does not work. However, it does work with Kill Bill. I just tried this and was surprised how well it came out.

There's more invested in the Bill/Beatrix relationship if you watch it in this order:

-DaMoe sequence (Deleted scene)
-Legend of Pai Mei
-Massacre at Two Pines
-Opening scene of Volume 1
-Blood Splattered Bride
...And so on...

The love story between Bill & Beatrix comes off as a bit rushed and unbelivable when explored in Vol-2, but you really get to see both Bill & Bea evolve in a unique way if you watch the entire film in non-chapter form. The payoff definetly delivers. Give it a shot.

Somebody needs to get a shot at the footage from Southland Tales. There has to be a good, coherent movie in there somewhere.

The new one will be Watchmen... although for me, I'll just hit the 2X rapid play on the dvd player, and it will take care of my issues....

One movie that I would like making an edit of would be The Curious case of Benjamin Button.
Spoiler:
The scenes in the hospital where Buttons daughter reads his Journal would get edited down to only two; the beginning and ending

I think it would make the film flow a lot smoother with those edits.

What movie or movies would you like to make a Fan Cut of and why?

I agree with this but I think that all of the old woman shit should be cut. It really ruined the movie for me. Oh, old woman looking back on her life. Cheese. Katrina! Double cheese.

Speaking of recent movies...

Milk. I thought it was a good movie (and a fantastic Oscar deserving performance by Penn) but it felt a little melodramatic. First I would cut Danny Elfman's awful "emotional" score. The film has enough to be emotional about so I don't need the music prodding at me. Second, cut the two scenes with the wheelchair kid. These scenes felt too forced and just blah.

I think the film would have been much better with those two omissions.

Oh and Diego Luna was a little over-the-top but I'll let it slide.

On BOOGIE NIGHTS I would cut all the documentary type scenes.

"Back to the Future 2" the movie should end right after the Delorean is struck by lightning and Marty is trying to call him on the walkie-talkie.

No car pulling up, no "1885 letter", AND NO SCENES FROM THE THIRD MOVIE!

You are so right on with this it's amazing. That change alone would make the movie at least one star better.

Zemeckis is terrible about this sort of thing. Look at the trailers for Cast Away or What Lies Beneath.
