How many more chances is Hollywood going to keep giving Shyamalan? Seriously, enough is enough. Whatever he once had (and it wasn't much to begin with imo), it's gone.

For me it is the second half of SIGNS, THE VILLAGE, LADY IN THE WATER, THE HAPPENING and now this so that is 4 1/2 duds in a row. He just might be a 2 hit wonder.

Friggin' battered wife syndrome.

Why have I been waiting for him to make a decent movie? He hasn't made one that I truly enjoyed since Signs and had been on a steady decline. The Village was decent. Lady in the Water was crap. I was still under his spell to the point I thought The Happening was worthwhile until my brother saw and pointed out my delusion.

I'm done.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

Slight laugh out of the facebook responses so far:

"I hated it with the passion of a thousand suns."
"Attention FaceBook....The Last AirBender......a waste!"
"If you watched the show your gonna get mad at this movie. The director must die."
"Psa... Do not go see the last airbender! Oh and fuck you too m night!"

I dunno how M Night fucked it up THAT bad.

Damn, now I want to see this... And the only movie Ive liked from MNS is Unbreakable. Im still mad at the time I lost watching the Happening. I was home sick and watched it on HBO and Im pretty sure it made my flu worse.

The movie was worth making just for the laughs I am getting reading the critic comments on RT....blistering is too mild a word for some of them.

Ebert on Twitter:

ebertchicago - "The Last Airbender" is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented. http://j.mp/9xFzbu

I agree except 1 hit, Sixth Sense is a film completely based on a gimmicky plot-device. Take that away & its a slow, plodding, half-assed character piece.

I'm just shocked by this film, the reviews are horrifying.

Capone from Aintitcoolnews, who has decent taste, says this about the film, even if you take aside the shitty 3D & just focus on the film itself. . .

"That said, nothing on heaven or earth could have saved THE LAST AIRBENDER from spiraling out of control and making it certainly the worst film I've seen all year so far, and an early candidate for the worst film of the decade."

The really sad part is, the defenders of this hack director will still go on to say how the audience misinterpreted his brilliant vision of the film.

There is no way this is worse than The Happening, i'd watch the trailer for this for an hour before sitting through that movie again

The only suspense left is finding out what Armond White thinks about it.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

These reviews are horrible, I may have to see this movie now based on how bad it sounds. I bet M. Night thought after The Happening that it couldn't get any worse.

Here's a chart from RT showing his average critical score for each film.

Not really. Everyone hates it, so naturally he'll be defending its "strong, central themes of a young child coming into his own" and hail it as the best film in M Night's career.

He hasn't come up with the "right" story yet; if this happens it'll be far in the future. Here's the latest:

"I just have to think of the right story. If I think of the right story — and by that I mean something that resonates with me right now, you know, at my age and where I am and what movie I've come off of — if I can do that, then I'll get really excited and I'll write a draft and I'll go beg Disney for us to be able to make it."

Yep. I think we won't truly know how bad it is until we see how much Armond White likes it.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

I saw the midnight showing last night in 3D

THIS WAS THE WORST MOVIE I'VE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME. PERIOD.

Sorry about the caps, but I had to emphasize that. The 3D was pure garbage too.

If you can't stand the director, or the show, why would you even bother reading a thread about this movie? I have no interest in Twilight, so I wouldn't even bother clicking on a thread about it. I'm guessing its an age thing, because the animated series is flat-out phenomenal with some of the smoothest animation ever created for a TV series. The story is deep & charming as are the characters.

I've seen some episodes but it hasn't interested me much. The backstory and the world is interesting, the execution on the episodes I saw was average. Dialogue was average kids fare too. I did have interest in the film though.

My local paper (Dallas Morning News) gave it (Twilight) 4 1/2 stars. Ridiculous. And I went to see it with my wife, so I'm not just an uninformed hater.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

Let me just say i NEVER POST IN THESE BOARDS..and prob never will again...but TLA live-action was God-awful. This coming from the guy who half-way enjoyed Mortal Kombat 2, Spawn, and Dragon Ball live-action. The acting in it is so bad, there were actually moments where i cringed and sunk down in my seat embarassed to be in the theater with everyone else (a whopping 10 people total). Let me also say the animated series is nothing short of incredible. I got the 1st season during a price mistake in BBy's ad and PM'd to Circuit City to get it for $3.50. I put off watching it for about a year 1/2, then got bored and it was the only thing i was interested in watching. I finished the whole first season in one sitting. Paid full price for the next 2 seasons with no regret. Have watched it 3 times through and still think it's one of the top 10 greatest animated shows ever made. So even as a fan the movie was awful. I have lost all confidence in M. night and seriously hope they fire him from directing forever (and hopefully find a new director for Avatar). I hope even M. Night's kids hate him for the terrible job he did directing TLA.
