Didn't look like anything special to me, although I know it's just a teaser.

I think this will be M. Night's best movie since The Sixth Sense. He is a good director. As long as this film isn't trying to have some surprise ending or some "secret", it should be a good kid's film.

Too bad!!! My wife's running partner's boss went out for dinner last night and M Night was at the next table, drunk as a monkey. He told his dinner friends the trick ending, rather loudly:

Aang defeats Ozai in an epic battle. The rest of the heroes gather to congratulate him, along with several other people:

* a silent, slightly-asian-looking man in long black trenchcoat & dark glasses
* Lain Iwakura, in her teddy bear hat
* Avril Lear, in a colorful dress with a prominent double-M design
* Patrick Duffy, dripping wet, wearing only a towel
* James Woods with Tetsuo Shima's replacement right arm
* and many others who I am forgetting

Then the camera pulls back continuously, blurring and morphing so that the entire world is actually the iris of an eye. Still pulling back, we see it is Noah Ringer, with hair, unmoving on a cot. A nurse comes in to the room and speaks to him pleasantly, but he does not respond. She rolls him to the other side and rearranges his pillows. She writes her initials on a long checklist, with dozens of entries previously initialed. The name at the top of the page is Tommy Westphall.

Fade to credits.

I think that's a very good point, no matter what you think where he takes his story, most folks will admit he can set a pretty interesting stage. So as long as he doesn't take too many liberties with the story I think it could be pretty good.

I found the teaser to be rather lame but, I'm looking forward to the release in spite of it.

What were the secrets or surprises to the Happening and Lady in the Water? None that I can remember and they were both pretty bad.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

The only M. Night Shyamalan (what the hell does the "M" stand for anyway?) movie I partially enjoyed was Unbreakable. The annoying son and the rushed ending (complete with text summary) are what hurt that movie for me.

I found The Sixth Sense intensely boring so that by the time the twist rolled along, I was too disinterested to care.

The only thing I liked about Signs was that great scene in the corn (or was it wheat) field. The audio played a big part in making that scene eerie and intense.

I caught The Village on the TV and went in with lowered expectations. Sadly, not low enough.

I skipped out on Lady In The Water and The Happening so I have no clue about them.

Did they use the 300 narrator for the voiceover in this trailer? Seriously thought this when I saw it before Transformers last night.

You mean David Whenam? Dunno. I'll have to listen to the teaser again but I didn't think of him at all the first time I saw it.

In don't know anything about this, but a girl in front of us at Transformers went completely bonkers when the trailer came on. I have never seen anything like that (and she looked to be in her 20s).

I wonder how many people will skip Cameron's AVATAR because they thought it was the Shyamalyan one.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

Is there anyone else pulling for this guy other than Artman? I know I am. He gets way too much flack. I disliked his last two films greatly, but THE VILLAGE is one helluva great film. When the hell does it come out on Blu-ray? They got everything else he's done.

Re: The Last Airbender (Shyamalan, 2010) — The other Avatar movie

I dunno..Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were great. Signs was predictable, enjoyable, but a tad average. Village was mediocre. Lady in the Water was, to me...I dunno why..maybe it's cuz Giamatti and all the movie stuff that propelled the 3 act got my attention and I enjoyed it..but it was average. Never saw The Happening..but...I hear it sucked. Something about people running from pollen and nature is going to kill them...when it's the wind blowing the pollen and not the literal pollen flying at them? I dunno...it doesn't make sense when people explain it to me.

I am by no means a fan of his work but this one looks good. So I am hoping M. Night pulls it off.
