Re: Weekend Box Office: 1/16-1/19 "You Wont Believe What's No. 1" Edition
eh it's the middle of January not really a good time for quality movies to reign the box office. Wasn't like Meet the Spartans #1 around this time last year?

Re: Weekend Box Office: 1/16-1/19 "You Wont Believe What's No. 1" Edition
I'll take a movie like Paul Blart over Meet the Spartans any day.

I hope My Bloody Valentine 3-D does a little better when the weekend is finished....

Me too, although I'm questioning why they didn't wait until it got a little closer to the actual holiday to release it. Hotel for Dogs better not beat it. That's all I'm sayin'.

Re: Weekend Box Office: 1/16-1/19 "You Wont Believe What's No. 1" Edition
I plan on checking out Gran Torino a little later today and Double Feature My Bloody Valentine (non-3D) and The Unborn next week. Gran Torino will be my first movie this year snd I can already guess it's better than the last movie I seen lasy year (The Spirit)

No. Disney occasionally makes quality movies. Hotel For Dogs is from Nickelodeon.
opps - my bad let me rephrase that - it features kids and dogs, there are poop jokes - it's a hit :) |

Also disappointed to see The Wrestler not crack the Top 10, because it opened wider this week. |

Paul Blart #1? Who goes to see this crap? Looks like a straight to video release in the unfunny previews.

Re: Weekend Box Office: 1/16-1/19 "You Wont Believe What's No. 1" Edition
Ebert gave it three stars
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/...IEWS/901149986 My Bloody Valentine was kind of lame. I had a feeling it wouldn't be number 1 but I thought Notorious would be. |

Have to admit I didn't think Mall Cop would do any kind of business. Seem to be big numbers for January, nice.

Re: Weekend Box Office: 1/16-1/19 "You Wont Believe What's No. 1" Edition
PG-13 most of the time beats out R films,It's a shame....

Re: Weekend Box Office: 1/16-1/19 "You Wont Believe What's No. 1" Edition
Paul Blartt is PG though so I guess it has that helping it. It'd be like a nightmare for me though. an 87 minite long PG-rated nightmare. Even though I have no interest in Notorious and My Bloody Valentine its not a bad thing to see R-rated films doing very well this month. Gran Torino is also still doing very nicely as well.

Why wouldn't I believe? What did you expect to beat it? I've seen countless ads for Paul Blart and I don't even watch tv.
