question(s) about ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK with Kurt Russell (1981)

Hey, I've been a huge fan of this film for years. And I've finally watched it again for the first time in my "adult" years. Still great.

However - I will ask a couple of nit-picky questions.............

a) if Pliskkin was supposed to rescue the President and escape in the glider atop the World Trade Center, how was the President supposed to fit in there? It was a one-seat glider.

b) how is it that Cabbie just happened to show up in the right places, in the nick of time?

[the doctor also showed up in the nick of time after Snake went over the wall, to neutralize the capsules in Snake's neck.]

I'm not knocking the film. Still love it, but I had to say it.

Oh yea, and why the hell, when Cabbie was first bringing Pliskken over to see Brain, did he park a whole block away from the library???

It seems that most movies have people parking at the end of their driveway, instead of by the house. This is true even when it is a country house, and the driveway is 20 yards long.

I imagine it applies to what Cabbie was doing.

Was he supposed to escape in the glider? Maybe he was just supposed to get back to the glider with the President and then they could radio back to HQ

These unanswerable questions are exactly why we're getting a remake.

Re: question(s) about ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK with Kurt Russell (1981)

I just realized this movie might be the best ever.
1.The opening with Angel Eyes giving him the Bond style briefing.
2.The whole computerized station
3.Ominous mood
4.Plissken is probably the most singularly constructed modern cinema-born hero
5.I dont particularly like the main badguy, the Duke...
6.Donald Pleasence.

YOU ONLY NEED PLEASENCE

I absolutely love how Pleasance delivers his lines. Such a unique character actor.
