'Charley Varrick' Line used in 'Pulp Fiction'

I just realized while watching 'Charley Varrick' that the 'go to work on you with pliers and blowtorches' line Tarantino used came from this movie.

Oddly enough it was delivered by Dean Wormer, AKA John Vernon.

I realize this is a pretty obscure topic for a thread, but I thought it was kind of interesting.

I don't think its that uncommon that dialog gets copied from movie to movie, thats show business.

Or in the case of Tarantino...nevermind ;)

Tarantino rips off everything. 'Kill Bill was nothing but a tribute movie, shots, themes, characters, clothing, etc.

I just found it interesting to spot where he got THAT line.

Don't you think it's possible that the character in Pulp Fiction is a big fan of "Charlie Varrick?" Tarantino sets his movies in the world where people watch movies and watch tv.

The segment "The gold watch" from Pulp Fiction was written by Roger Avary.

Check out imdb film connections for more lines copied in other films. Pretty neat.

^ I love how they used a quote from the Bible as some sort of plagiarism from another movie.

Oddly enough, "Sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie but I'd never know cause I'd never eat the filthy motherfuckers" was ripped off verbatim from Gone with the Wind.

the funny thing is i think that the bodyguard misquoted the bible so it was fairly obvious that tarantino stole it directly from the bodyguard.

Lines from Charley Varrick can also be found in the Natural Born Killers screenplay, though I don't recall them ending up in any of the versions of the film.
