I agree with one of the above posters. This will not make any money, regardless of if it's decent or not.

For some reason the more pictures they show the less hopeful I am about it. But they can only go up from the original film.

I wonder about the veracity of that article. Rumours of Stephen Sommers being locked out of the editing of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra turned out to be bullshit yet that article is listing it as fact. I dunno about Mike Newell being locked out (or not) from the editing of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, however.

yeah...if they just slimmed the helmet a bit more...but fuck it. I love what I'm seeing so far. Which is only Urban as Dredd so far...

I don't see Urban being a box office draw nor a leading man. He's better playing supporting roles like his turn as Bones in the most recent Star Trek film.
Whenever a studio interferes in the creative process, you can forget about anything decent happening. I never thought this would be worth a crap anyway. Now it's almost guaranteed to be a dud. You've got a writer, albeit a good one, involved in something he's never been involved in, editing. Kiss this one goodbye.

I dunno if it'll be a disaster but the studio is already shitting themselves because the film is more violent than they expected. Apparently they're demanding cuts to sanitize the film.

It can't be any worse than the first Dredd movie...and Urban is a big improvement over Stallone.

It's a shame chris_sc77 is still suspended. (wink wink)

The Stallone costume looks better. The new one looks like a cross between Robocop and Road Warrior.
I don't really think that Judge Dredd works as a movie. They just turn it into a sci-fi action movie and it loses the satire in the translation.
I also find it a little strange that this is the second movie made out what is a pretty obscure (at least to the majority of America) British comic strip. Outside of hardcore comic geeks and Anthrax fans, it's not particularly well known, and the publishers have done a pretty shit job of keeping the graphic novels in print and available.

2000 AD has been releasing chronological Judge Dredd collections that cover his entire run.
