looks a little more serious than i thought it would be but i have faith in pretty much everyone involved with this so i'm sure it will be great.

Looks like a huge leap for Apatow, seems to be going the James L. Brooks Broadcast News/As Good as it Gets route of finding comedy in the most serious situations. Been wanting Sandler to do more dramatic stuff and have longed to see Rogen jump into the territory, this looks like one to watch.

I know I will be seeing it.
I don't care if people think he's "overexposed" or whatever, I love watching Rogen.

This looks a like a bad idea on all fronts but the preview seemed pretty decent. I'll rent it.

Looks funny. I'm a fan of Apatow's brand, so this is an easy watch for me. But I would suspect this'll be slightly too long like his other films.

Officially Rated R For language and crude sexual humor throughout, and some sexuality.
Also IMDB lists a136 minute runtime (!!!!!)
Check out this article on the runtime:
http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/05/07...uper-long-dvd/
Quote form the article (and what I am sure you will all agree I should add to my signature) :
"“The story covers a lot of ground. I’m a fan of movies that are on the longer side. I never sit in a movie I like and think I wish this was over already. I think people will be very involved with these characters and enjoy the ride. There’s plenty of time to get back home and watch ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ and do whatever else you need to do.”"
Great quote Judd. This movie just shot to the top of my Summer movie Must see list. Right behind Inglorious Basterds and Public Enemies.
Thats right everyone. I am in f*cking heaven with this release.

Prediction: Adam Sandler will receive an Academy Award Nomination for this performance.
I can feel it. He has been building towards it since he first branched out in Spanglish. First Spanglish, then Punch-Drunk Love, and then Reign Over Me. It was a slow build, with intermittent "classic Sandler" movies, allowing him to refine his dramatic acting chops and establishing himself as a serious actor. People are going to go into this movie expecting a 40-Year Old Virgin or Knocked Up with Sandler-shenanigans, but are going to get something very different.
I could be wrong, but we'll see...I expect it will be good either way.

ALso I am just gonna say I have mad respect for Universal studios. They dont have very many HUGE tentpole movies this summer but what they do have is a great and interesting selection that has me salivating. True they do have Land of the Lost which doesnt look all that great. (But still looks leagues better than most moves aimed at kids these days I will say.) But Universal has a slate of R-rated fare that is rather ballsy. PUblic Enemies, Funny People, Borat, The Boat that ROcked and their co-production with the Weinstien CO. of Inglourious Basterds. All rated R and with the exception of Borat all well over 2 hours. Universal definitely has my respect this summer.

I say a Golden Globe nomination is likely or at least possible but an Oscar nomination? I am gonna say no.

...you and your Rs and 2hrs. How cute...
Honestly though...I'm hoping this is better than Knocked Up, which would rock. I can't stand Sandler but I'll see this cuz of Apatow.

maybe its just me, but doesn't the trailer seemingly give away a bit too much? I'm still def seeing it.

Re: Funny People (Apatow, 2009): Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann
And yes, I have seen the trailer. I am commenting on the general public who is just going to see the names Sandler, Rogen, and Apatow and references to The 40-Year-Old Virgin. I am sure there are a lot of people that are going to go into this movie not knowing exactly what it is about and thinking it is a straight-up comedy.
I'll stand by my prediction. I know it is a long-shot, but I think Sandler has it in him.

I would assume as well that alot of the jokes/humorus parts couldn't be shown in the trailer, since the movie is indeed R (and knowing who is involved), prob very raunchy/explicit in nature.

Definitely looking forward to this one. Should be a good one.
The part in the trailer with Leslie Mann speaking with an Australian accent has me .
"Oi!"
