Joan being in Death Race caused her to be kicked off the list.

Cate Blanchett and Laura Linney are my two favourite actors, male or female. I'd be there opening day if they were ever in a movie or a play together. Cate's versatility and range in particular is just awe-inspiring. In the past few years, she's played an over-the-top Russian villain, a German femme fatale (The Good German), Bob Dylan(!), a pedophile (Notes on a Scandal), Queen Elizabeth I, and Katharine Hepburn. No wonder actresses often complain about a lack of good roles -- they're all going to Cate!

It's been between Blanchett and Winslet for many years. They're the only reason that I make that trek to the theatre. I'd give Blanchett the edge, but not by much.
