why so much fuss over rape in movies

No not another what movies have rape scenes in them question lol.

My question is why does the dipiction of rape in movies cause so much fuss and controvsey.

Granted real rape is a heinous and terrible crime with horrific ramifications for the victims.

But its not worse than murder beheading shooting or gutting people ect.

So why does the dipiction of it even in movies that contain lots of murder and otherr violence ect cause such a stir even among those that are fine with the dipicition of gratutious (sp?) death murder and violence .

even the highly unrealistic tree rape scene in the Evil dead caused a bigger outcry than the dipiction of various forms of killing dismemberment and violence contained in the movie and of course got censored in later edition even though the gore and killing is left is in tact.

so why does the the dipiction of rape in movies tend to cause a bigger stir and get banned/censored more often than the dipiction of wanton violence torture beheadings guttings ect do?

is it simply to do with political correctness ?
because its most often a male on female crime?
Do rape scenes that dipict same gender rape generate the same kind of stir and censorship?
