Favorite Warren Beatty film?

Bugsy
Dick Tracy
Reds
Heaven Can Wait
Shampoo
The Parallax View
McCabe and Mrs. Miller
Bonnie and Clyde
Splendor in the Grass

Other- please specify

Warren Beatty seems to be unofficially retired now, though there are various stories about near-involvement in Kill Bill and Frost/Nixon. Though Bonnie and Clyde is a classic, seminal film, my favorite Warren Beatty film is absolutely Parallax View, one of the more underrated films of the entire 1970's. Worth renting for the amazing visual "psychology test" alone. I'm hoping Columbia blesses us with Mickey One at some point. What is your favorite Beatty performance? No Truth or Dare jokes, please.

EDIT: Sorry, I meant to make the poll public. Is there a way to change that?

Dr Mabuse 11-26-08 05:57 PM

'McCabe' by far, he did some good work but he never matched that performance.

Geofferson 11-26-08 06:10 PM

I also voted The Parallax View...

JumpCutz 11-26-08 06:15 PM

Another vote for The Parallax View.

rw2516 11-26-08 06:44 PM

Voted Bonnie and Clyde. Parallax View is my second favorite. Watched it not too long ago and noticed something I hadn't caught on to before

Spoiler:
The psychological tests, written questionaire and visual, were too find and identify the fall guys, not the assassins. The were looking for anti-social loners to put the blame on. They would never entrust something as important as an assassination to someone who wasn't firing on all cylinders

You forgot Bullworth.

hasslein 11-26-08 07:45 PM

Not a big Beatty fan, but went with Bonnie & Clyde because it features my two favorite Genes: Hackman & Wilder.

The Cow 11-26-08 08:40 PM

Not a Warren Beatty fan, but I kinda liked 'Heaven Can Wait'.

tommyp007 11-26-08 10:08 PM

Gotta go with Dick Tracy

The Antipodean 11-26-08 10:44 PM

Totally would have put Bulworth over Dick Tracy on the poll. Great underrrated film.

But when it comes down to it, Bonnie and Clyde is THE Warren Beatty movie.

William Fuld 11-26-08 10:50 PM

McCabe and Mrs. Miller

Mondo Kane 11-27-08 04:51 AM

Never even heard of Parallax View before. *adds to rental Q*

Ended up voting for B&C, but I gotta give some recognition to Bugsy. That movie's got one of my most favorite endings ever.

Ronnie Dobbs 11-27-08 05:56 AM

Heaven Can Wait. I'm surprised I haven't seen that many Warren Beatty movies.

I wish I could.

That's actually quite an impressive list of films. It was hard but I chose Heaven Can Wait because it it stays with me even more than other outstanding films like Bonnie & Clyde, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, the underrated Shampoo, Reds and Bugsy.

mikelowry 11-27-08 08:09 AM

Dick Tracy gets my vote.

Shannon Nutt 11-27-08 10:09 AM

Heaven Can Wait was the first Beatty movie I saw in the theaters (yes, I'm old)...so I have a soft spot for that one. Bugsy would probably be second.

Parallax is a great thriller. I voted for McCabe and Mrs Miller-one of my favorite films of all time. With Bonnie and Clyde and Shampoo a close second and third.

Torchur317 11-27-08 12:12 PM

Bugsy

DonnachaOne 11-27-08 12:55 PM

I voted Dick Tracy since I figured no-one else would. Guess I was wrong.

RobCA 11-27-08 01:43 PM

I voted Dick Tracy since it's the only one I've seen. Well, besides Ishtar.

I voted for Reds both I like him in Bugsy alot.
And I can't stand Dick Tracy it put me to sleep with a quickness.

Hokeyboy 11-27-08 04:57 PM

People are actually voting for Dick Tracy?? Must be the only Beatty film they've ever seen...

Anyway, McCabe and Mrs. Miller for the win. Phenomenal movie.

Those were the two choices I was debating between. I figured more people on this board would be Dick Tracy fans, so I went with that. I haven't seen Bulworth since it was in the theaters, but I remember Beatty's raps were almost surreally bad.

inri222 11-27-08 09:57 PM

McCabe and Mrs. Miller
