"Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is giving a porn star her big Hollywood break after casting her in the starring role in his next movie.

Sasha Grey - whose previous movie credits include Anal Acrobats 3 and Blow Me Sandwich 11 - will play the protagonist in Girlfriend Experience, about a high class call girl whose life unravels.

Explaining the project to Interview magazine, the Oscar-winning director says, "(It's) about someone who feels as though she is in absolute control of the way that her life works and, over the course of a week, comes to realise that's not true.

"It's a subject I've been totally interested in since the beginning of my career. This is just a milieu that I've never explored before." "

Dont really know what to think but it could be interesting. I like some of Soderburgh's more experimental films like Bubble and Full Frontal so who knows.

But I was a little disappointed with it, especially considering the near masterpiece that was Blow Me Sandwich 10 - which was nominated for a Best Screenplay Academy Award if I'm not mistaken.

I remember hearing Soderbergh got flack for casting a model (Andie Macdowell) in Sex, Lies, and Video but that seemed to work out okay.

Not the first time. Marilyn Chambers from porn classic Behind the Green Door was cast in Rabid (1977) directed by David Cronenberg. Yep, she was nude in the film.

And let's not forget about Meryl Streep.

Except that to this day, she sticks out like a sore thumb in that movie...and every other movie she's ever done.

She was absolutely perfect for/in Groundhog Day.

Considering her movie credentials, she sounds more like a PSE than a GFE to me. :)
