Favorite Bond opening scene?
Prob my fave one is Goldfinger, followed by either Casino Royale's (love the black and white opening), or The World is Not Enough. Say what you want about the movie itself, but the opening scene is great.
sorry if this has been done before |
From Russia With Love of course. Robert Shaw and the "death" of 007. I also like the one in Japan in You Only Live Twice which leads into my all-time favorite Bond song.
I always enjoyed the opening of The Spy Who Loves Me. As previously mentioned, Goldfinger, and You Only Live Twice are also great. I would also add: Thunderball, Goldeneye, and For Your Eyes Only.
Casino Royale (06) and The Living Daylights had very good pre-title openings that nicely set the mood for what was to come.
Totally agree about the Living Daylights and I'd add Octupussy with the aerojet and Diamonds are Forever, with Connery out to get revenge.
From Russia With Love has long been my favorite. (Was this also the first one? I can't remember one in Dr. No, but it's been a while since I've seen it).
For Your Eyes Only.
Bond finally avenges his wife's death. |
Goldfinger
Casino Royale
I remember the audience cheering when Bond flew that aerojet through the closing hangar doors in Octopussy. That was pretty exciting.
Also, Bond getting pushed out of a plane and then stealing a parachute in mid-air from one of the bad guys is probably Moonraker's finest moment. |
I'd say Casino Royale's is the most creative - right through the opening credits -
And one of the rare ones that is integral to the story and plot. |

Yes, From Russia With Love is the first ever "action" opening to a Bond film before the credits. And remains one of the absolute best. |

That was absolutely awesome and one of the best openings. Too bad about the rest of the film. |

As much as Casino Royale disappoints later on, the opening scene (and the next 90 minutes or so) are fucking awesome. Also a fan of the ones for Goldfinger and Goldeneye (the latter only half-influenced by my nostalgia for the N64 game).
Goldeneye
Diamonds Are Forever rocked.
Best intro and SONG go to: SPY HARD :D
For your Eyes Only, though the jump in Goldeneye is great
Goldeneye by far. The spy who loved me was pretty cool too.
The ones I can actually remember in my head are below. My choices have a lot to do with liking the title song. I like some more than others, and for some I ONLY like the song but not necessarily the images/graphics the song plays over.
Die Another Day Casino Royale QoS License to Kill Any opening with Shirley Bassey singing. |
Goldeneye
Goldfinger.
"Shocking. Positively shocking." |
I like Goldfinger the best. Most of them are great, only a few lame. Live and Let Die, Man With Golden Gun, License to Kill, World Is Not Enough are lacking. The For Your Eyes Only pre-credit is downright awful. I love the part of the OHMSS opening with the Bond theme playing while he casually lights a cigarette, shifts gears in the Aston and takes after Tracy in the '69(?) Cougar.
