What the hell is the deal with Michael Madsen

I was looking at Michael Madsen's IMDB page just now... he has *47* credits from 2007-now. 47! What the hell?

As long as everyone is in agreement that listing #88 - The Ghost - is his greatest film ever (that I haven't been able to sit for more than the first 15 minutes), but he has the greatest character name of all time :)

Not Another Not Another Movie?

lol, yep. Madsen plays Chevy Chase's brother.

Michael has found his calling in the DTV garbage world of DVDs.

Oh, and he's still riding off his performance as Mr. Blonde.

LickTheABCs 11-14-08 12:33 PM

He's a workaholic.

He better hope his wife doesn't get pregnant anytime soon, because something tells me Tarantino might actually collect one day.

Dr Mabuse 11-14-08 01:16 PM

Two of his DTV movies are in the review icon rotation at the top of DVDTalk.

Starring Michael Madsen as...Michael Madsen.

fmian 11-14-08 02:07 PM

I'll give the guy my acceptance whatever he does for leaving a mark on cinema with his Mr Blond character.

I think he's also an alcaholic.

I liked his character of Budd a lot more than Mr. Blonde. Too bad he won't be in Inglorious Basterds.

riley_dude 11-14-08 03:31 PM

He probably has to work that much so he can pay for all his legal fees. He has been in trouble with the law quite a bit.

Are you thinking Michael Madsen or Tom Sizemore?

Heck, MM is into poetry. :)

Troy Stiffler 11-14-08 09:28 PM

Meh. Not everyone wants to be big and rich and a household name and stuff. Some people [in the movie business] just like making movies with friends and good people and getting paid for it. All of those small movies - I wouldn't be suprised if he brings in a half-million plus a year.

That being said, it would be interesting to see what roles Madsen tries for and gets turned down. I wouldn't be suprised if he doesn't aim too high with big productions and such.

Gunde 11-15-08 05:16 AM

Yeah he's an actor who is working. What the fuck is wrong with him!?

Matthew Ackerly 11-15-08 08:46 AM

I don't see anyone complaining about Sam Jackson.

The only difference is his crap hits theatres.

At least Madsen knows if it smells like crap... it is crap.

d2cheer 11-15-08 11:55 AM

He is one of the few actors that can do DTV and some larger productions as well.

I enjoy most of his work but some of the DTV are really bad!

MartinBlank 11-15-08 02:49 PM

He's surpassed Walken! Weird.

Torchur317 11-15-08 03:28 PM

Michael Madsen still gives good performances in these low budget/DTV films....

Luck of the Draw
The Last Days of Frankie the Fly
Chasing Ghosts
Hell Ride
Choke
Sacrifice
Tooth & Nail
& some others....

Some of these films are average at best but he is good in them....

Larry C. 11-15-08 04:29 PM

Give the guy a break. He is one of the few actors who realizes his shit does stink. Not like most actors that are clueless when they make a shitty movie.
