Russell Turned Down Stallone's Expendables Offer
Sylvester Stallone was stunned when he asked his Tango & Cash co-star Kurt Russell to appear in his forthcoming movie The Expendables - after the actor's agent ordered him to make the request by formal letter.
The Rambo star has lined up a stellar cast of Hollywood hardmen for the action-thriller, including Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and rapper 50 Cent.
And Stallone was keen to get his pal Russell on-board - but was staggered by the less-than-friendly response.
He tells his forum StallonZone, "I know that many people on the site have asked for Kurt Russell. I asked for him too.
"Actually, I was taken aback when asked to put the request in a letter and send it to his agent. Subsequently, I was called back by the agent several days later after refusing to send a letter and he said Kurt Russell is not interested in 'ensemble acting' at this time. So, people, I came, I saw, I failed".

My guess is it could be more about "when" he was asked. No one likes to be the last persone invited to a big party...and possibly the actual part itself.

Perhaps but even a bit part to what promises to be the biggest action movie of the decade would be a huge shot in the arm to his career. Then he'd be in a better position to headline a movie himself.

Yeah, I want to see Russell go back to being a badass. I didn't like Death Proof (but I liked him in it), but come on. We need more Snake Plissken and less Sky High.

I thought Russell was great in Dark Blue & I thought he was about to make a come back....
Then he did a few lesser films & I was disappointed....
Death Proof was good but Planet Terror was much better....

Imdb says it starts shooting at the end of this month, and will be released in April next year. This still needs to be rated R.

No Michael Clark Duncan...none of us go for a film with him...granted he was cool in The Green Mile and Sin City. No Seagal, he sucked and he will always suck. Bring on the Banderas and Keitel. I still want Weathers though...c'mon!!! Put some Jesse Ventura in there too.
