Best David Lynch Movie

What movie do you consider David Lynch's best or your personal favorite?

riotinmyskull 10-30-08 11:18 AM

well since BLUE VELVET is my favorite movie i guess i'll go with it. Really though there's nothing Lynch has done that i haven't liked to some degree. He's one of my top 3 favorite directors.

The Elephant Man is one of the best films of all time, so this tops my list ahead of Blue Velvet

Shannon Nutt 10-30-08 12:22 PM

His best is probably BLUE VELVET, but my personal favorite (and the one I voted for) is THE STRAIGHT STORY.

RichC2 10-30-08 12:38 PM

Mulholland is my personal favorite.

maingon 10-30-08 12:42 PM

Mulholland Dr., but probably for Naomi watts :)

Dan 10-30-08 12:48 PM

Probably a tie between Lost Highway and Mulholland Dr. for me.
I'll vote for Lost Highway. :)

I feel exactly the same way.
And I will also go with Lost Highway.

Charlie Goose 10-30-08 12:55 PM

None of the above. Not a fan.

Ginwen 10-30-08 12:59 PM

Blue Velvet is in my top 10, so definitely my favorite.

Boba Fett 10-30-08 01:16 PM

You forgot Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me

GoldenJCJ 10-30-08 01:42 PM

I voted Mulholland Dr. but I do love Blue Velvet and even though it makes no sense, Lost Highway.

Eraserhead is a very interesting oddity. Can't say I really liked it yet am captivated every time I see it.

Some of the Way over the top performances in Wild at Heart kind of ruin that film for me even though I still enjoy it on that crazy Lynchian level.

Actually, now that I think about it, the only Lynch film I truly don't like is Inland Empire.

NoirFan 10-30-08 01:45 PM

My favorite was Blue Velvet for many years, but I'm beginning to think Mulholland Dr. is the superior film.

Ditto.

I've seen Dune much more than the others (and own about 7 different versions of it on DVD), but still count Lost Highway as my favorite.

ReduxGuy 10-30-08 01:59 PM

A part of me wants to say Mulholland Dr., but another wants to say INLAND EMPIRE.

JayDerek 10-30-08 02:08 PM

Mulholland Drive for me.

Seems to combine the themes of many of his earlier films into this one - and it's done perfectly.

arminius 10-30-08 05:08 PM

Eraserhead completely due to psilocybin. What a combo.

Hokeyboy 10-30-08 05:18 PM

Mulholland Dr. is the best film of the decade (thus far). An easy pick for me.

chanster 10-30-08 05:19 PM

I love Dune.

Cardiff Giant11 10-30-08 05:58 PM

Mulholland Drive but I do love me some Twin Peaks FWWM a whole lot too.

DeanoBKN 10-30-08 06:29 PM

Mulholland Dr

Zen Peckinpah 10-30-08 06:39 PM

Blue Velvet. Can't even hesitate.

We have a winner!

I have to say Dune. I've watched most of his movies, and own most of those on disc, but Dune is the only one I've watched over and over again.

Shit, I didn't realize it was asking for the Best DL movie. I would probably go with Mullholland Dr. in that case.
