Well, maybe Jaws, but it this has an alligator, one that eats the guy who played Cheswick in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for dinner. And of course, ESPECIALLY because Robert frickin' Forster is gonna make sure that scaly motherfucker doesn't cause the end of life as we know it.

Plus the running joke about Forster's baldness/lousy haircut is great.

I know I'm in a distinct minority but I actually think the Academy got it right that year.

I've always thought that Alligator is second only to Jaws in the Hungry Animal Genre. The movie has action, suspense, humor, badass dialogue, AND the gator got some kharmic revenge by ruining the shit of the greedy bastards who created him. This was the movie that made me a huge fan of Forster. I followed his career even during the really lean years before Jackie Brown. He's one of my favorite actors.

That was kinda tough.

I went with The Shining, because that movie is just so fucked up and awesomely weird.

Close second is Raging Bull, which IMO has De Niro's best performance.

Third is Empire.

I loved Empire as much as any Sci Fi guy but Ordinary People moved me more than any other movie I had seen up until that point in my life.
