This has not been a good year for black men who are really really dark complexion wise.

He seemed to be a true mack daddy.

I was lucky enough to meet him at a screening in L.A. last year. He signed my Human Tornado DVD after making it crystal clear that I had bought it from him and that I didn't just bring it in off the street. Very funny guy. He told a lot of jokes that had the crowd rolling.

Ugh, damn. It was so sad to return to the country this week to hear about his passing - I just watched Human Tornado for the first time a few weeks ago. Dolemite's been in constant rotation for years, though. Damn.
