The Way of the Gun

Good or Bad movie?

Juliette Lewis is annoying

fmian 10-19-08 01:27 PM

Guilty pleasure.
I wouldn't expect my wife or friends to like it, and the repetitive score and vague plot moments kind of bugged me, but the rest is awesome.

costanza 10-19-08 01:30 PM

crap

I watched this when if first hit DVD and didn't care for it, but I'm about to the point where I think I need to revisit it. I love the opening scene:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5xsaMcw69D8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5xsaMcw69D8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Groucho 10-19-08 01:39 PM

Terrible movie, but I own it simply because a good portion was filmed at my office building.

PopcornTreeCt 10-19-08 01:42 PM

Good movie. Will buy the Blu-ray if it ever comes out.

Troy Stiffler 10-19-08 02:13 PM

Pretty good little movie. A good first effort from the director. Nothing that I'd necessarily revisit.

I guess that the characters were probably created to be young and foolish. But I can't help but imagine the movie with one mature voice and one young voice - or something like that - would have made it much more credible.

You work at that scrappy motel at the end of the movie huh?

Rival11 10-19-08 02:25 PM

It was decent when i first saw it.

But one question...was that Sarah Silverman?

Yup, she is freakin awesome.

hitmanjules 10-19-08 03:29 PM

That was the first time I'd seen Sarah Silverman and had no idea who she was (back in 2000). All I know is her character got exactly what she deserved!

I like it and own the DVD. The motel gunfight is awesome, and James Caan's character is great--really ruthless.

Geddlo 10-19-08 05:47 PM

It was alright for the most part. I haven't seen it since it first came to video but from what I remember of the movie, the ending just fell apart.

The beginning is one of the best openings to a movie ever!

Dr Mabuse 10-19-08 07:07 PM

Great movie.

I really like that film.

No. But a guy I went to high school with plays one of the paramedics in that scene.

Very good movie - nice, low key and nasty - although some of the plot points might be a bit much to take, the fact that the violence is played reasonably straight and realistic does it for me - plus the overt reference to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid makes me laugh every time - and Sarah Silverman has a dirty whore mouth. I've always thought of it as a QT movie that he might have made following Reservoir Dogs before the ton of cultural references and the "I've seen every movie ever made and I'll prove it" tendancies turned up in his work.

Love it. Gritty action, highly under rated.

arminius 10-20-08 11:28 AM

Great movie and one of the best gunfights on film.

Are you kidding....the soundtrack is awesome. It sounds more like something from the 70's with its music. I think its one of the best things in the movie. I agree that Juliette Lewis is annoying....but then she is in everything. The two main characters are well done and i think the movie whilst enjoyable is certainly flawed. I still enjoy it though.

I enjoyed it. I still can't believe it gets so bashed. Benicio and Caan were fantastic.

mndtrp 10-24-08 07:25 PM

I don't remember much about this film, other than the opening scene and that I liked it.
