Blindness is getting absolutely dreadful PTA's. kinda sad seeing as how I thought it looked pretty good. How to lose friends...is looking to have one of the top 25 or 30 worst weekends ever if going by PTA's. Its pretty f'ed up when a movie opening on 1750 screens/locations ends up making what'll probably less than $5 million overall. Fprget about production and advertising/marketing cost; does $5 million even cover costs for the actual prints of the film?

Outside of critics and dvdtalk, all the people I know who saw Eagle Eye really liked it... I think real world word of mouth is pretty strong.

I really wish Nick and Norah would have been #1 this weekend.

Really? Almost everyone I've talked to said it was really stupid, but the action was pretty good. Tepid recommendations at best, I think it was just a big action movie put out there at the right time.

I caught it on Friday and thought the same thing. Skillfully made, but amazing that it was that unbelievable, even by Hollywood standards.

A movie that drops 39% in its second weekend in today's box office world is receiving good word-of-mouth.

I'm not saying the drop isn't low, but I don't think it's keeping it up simply through word of mouth. There's just not a lot of glossy action competition for the teenage/young adult crowd and it's not actively horrible or anything.

The Dark Knight has really dropped off the radar. Two weekends ago it wa in the top 10, then it dropped to 13, and now #21. I expected it to lingerin the lower end of the top 10 for a bit longer but now it's not even in the top 20. it has made $525 million though.

^I don't think anyone needs to shed any tears for the Dark Knight.

Well, it is based on an acclaimed book. It probably didn't look so terrible from the outside.

That's because it's leaving theaters left and right.

It's only on a couple of IMAX screens and a few regular cinemas. The fact that it's still playing in first run theaters in October is pretty remarkable.
