Unlike the hoity-toity "Academy" threads, I've actually seen all these movies. And maybe, just maybe, so have you. So, which is your favorite? (Not the best). Here is where guilty pleasures could trump well-crafted movies.

My vote goes for Saving Private Ryan although I haven't rewatched T2 enough to really know if I liked it. But it's between those and that might change in a few years.

Not a major fan of any of these, though I'll go with Saving Private Ryan.

I agree. I think the 1990s had a bit of a fragmentation between movies that made a lot of money and movies that were critically acclaimed. My guess is that a lot of those movies did well due to special effects, specifically CGI. The 1970s and 1980s bred the summer blockbuster. The 1990s had the "event" movies audiences many times went to see just for the effects:

Terminator 2
Jurassic Park
Toy Story
Independence Day

None of the box office winners would show up on a list of my favorite 50, possibly even 100 films. It's doubtful that many of them would even be in the Top 10 for each of their years.

Damn, ok... I didn't exactly read all the choices before I voted. I picked Jurassic Park, but my actual choice would be Terminator 2.

Terminator 2. My 2nd choice would've been Titanic.

Phantom Menace only because it was the last Star Wars movie that had great music cues, before Ben Burtt put his foot down about music overshadowing his "genius"

Jurassic Park. I've been meaning to rewatch it to see how it holds up over time.

T2 by far. Titanic would be #2. That James Cameron fella oughta make more movies.

Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Never saw it.

Saving Private Ryan - Terrific movie

Titanic - My pick. Yes, I love it.

Independence Day - It's worn a little thin on me, but I still enjoy it. Except for Randy Quaid.

Toy Story - Never saw it.

Forrest Gump - Another one that I don't like as much as I once did.

Jurassic Park - Classic.

Aladdin - Never saw it.

Terminator 2 - I'm in the minority I guess, but this one is only okay for me.

Home Alone - Yes, it's a holiday staple.

. Granted, the movie wasn't very good but isn't it a pre-requiste that you need to have seen all Star Wars movies before you can most on a movie message board?

I chose Jurassic Park. T2 and SPR are far better movies but Jurassic Park will always hold a soft spot in my heart from my childhood.

Given my test of "If all these were on TV right now and I could only watch one", I'd go with Home Alone. It's a classic. I would watch it any time of the year, but it's my favorite holiday movie. Although coming in close would be Toy Story and Aladdin, followed by Saving Private Ryan and Independence Day.

Wow. Gump beat out the Lion King in '94? I thought it was close.

There are some solid films in here (Titanic, Ep.1 and ID4 non-withstanding), but I went for Jurassic Park.
