1. Marion Cotillard - La Vie En Rose:

When Mariane finally finds the final song for her.

2. Ashley Judd - Bug:

The last scene when she goes crazy. Anyone could have overacted in that role, but she did a great job.

3. Angelina Jolie - A Mighty Heart:

Can i complain and say that the ending of 'bug' was way over the top and over acted? Granted i hated that movie with a passion.

This is the one performance that stuck out in my mind, though I admittedly only saw a handful of films from last year:

^^ I thought everyone did amazing that movie. Heath Ledger and Christian Bale were great too.

I can't make a list. If this question had been asked during Oscar season, I'd have a better answer.

I couldn't think of another great female performance in a leading role.
