They almost got me once. Once.

It was this:

Saw this in a store. It caught my eye because I was wanting to see the DePalma movie, but was a bit surprised because I thought that it had just been released theatrically. (Though the older I get, the faster time seems to pass.)

Upon closer examination, I didnt' see Hillary Swank listed among the cast, and also that it was not directed by Brian DePalma.

Compare to the "real" version of the movie:

Both have the same title (as its based on a real murder case, I assume it's public domain and difficult to copyright and trademark), and both have a goth chick on the artwork with Crow-lines at the corners of her mouth.

I very nearly bought the damned thing.

Nah...I understood the sarcasm from the initial posts, and just responded with some myself. Only without the appropriate smilie.

I remember there was some film that had it's cover look like a Lord of the Rings movie, right down to the orange-ish hue. This was a couple years ago, I can't remember what it was...
EDIT: Found it, I remembered Beast was in the title and searched on Amazon: Blood of Beasts

Man, those covers suck. Remember the good old days, when the covers were sometimes better than the movie?

I've never watched a cover before, perhaps we need a cover review section.

Where did you go wrong.
I told you to stop hanging out with that Cuba Gooding Jr.
Actually she was the first thing I noticed also.

Somehow I can't envision Vincent D'Onofrio as a romantic lead. And that's not an insult, by the way.

^ I haven't seen Happy Accidents yet, but judging by that cover I'm assuming the plot revolves around a beautiful young woman falling in love with a mentally challenged man.

I only remember ripoff covers or "floating head" covers.

"Better covers" are a extreme rarity.
